what a stupid last play. kobe in the corner going against his strong hand? they waited all time out to come up with that? how about top of the key so you can go left or right. wasted chance. suns win.
This is the best first round of the playoffs in the history of the NBA. So I don't buy your argument. This game has been sloppy, a bunch of turnovers. But just because one player (smush) isn't executing like he should doesn't make it bad basketball. Its entertaining basketball and thats really all that matter, its the reason most of us are still awake watching it.
That's exactly what I'm talking about... everybody's point of reference is so skewed, its not even funny. These games seem amazing because of how the scores are close, or some crazy shots being made... but they're not being PLAYED well. I didn't notice this until I watched ESPN classic playing great playoff games from the 80's and 90's... those teams would absolutely murder any of the current teams left in the playoffs (except for maybe Detroit... which plays a style of ball as close to "championship" calibur as those past teams).
Having a great first round in the playoffs is just like the first couple rounds of the NCAA tournament... it makes everybody feel great ("basketball excitement!"), but in the end, its really meaningless as the playoffs are another month and a half long. (and plus, despite these games, the first two rounds of the NCAA far exceeds in interest).
Suns got it, thanks to Tim Thomas.... What a good game. Game 7 in Phoenix will be tough for the lakers to win.
I guess my main jist was that if the "best" stars that the NBA has today are Kobe Bryant and Lebron James (two guys who have never LED their teams to anything)... the NBA still has a far way to go to getting back to its peak level (80's and 90's). Larry Bird, Kevin McHale, Micheal Jordan, Magic Johnson, James Worthy, Charles Barkley, Hakeem Olajuwon, Clyde Drexler, Karl Malone, John Stockton, the young Shaq, even David Robinson. Those guys CARRIED the playoff headlines for two decades... no matter what happens this year, next year, or for the next 5 years, I highly doubt the NBA will be in that sort of position again.
Shawn Marion is a freak of nature. Boris Diaw is the best passer for a big man since Vlade and Arvydas.
I don't know if the Lakers can win Game 7 in Phoenix. Bell is gonna be back and he ain't gonna be too happy about that suspension, not to mention the home crowd. If only Smush had hit a couple of his shots. I'd rather put Vujacic in.
When Jordan was the face of the league it was the height of the NBA however I feel the Spurs could hang with a lot of those 80's teams, they have won 3 championships in the last few years.
No need to argue with lakers fans or those kobe wanker. Anything involves their team or the super hero is the best in their minds. Is a very exciting game and to make it sweeter, it looks like lakers gonna to lose
The NBA "needs" this? Its not their fault that the players don't have the "awe-inspiring star quality" potential that they had 20 years ago... maybe that generation simply was too good, and in the television age today's current players grew up idolizing those guys (instead of developing their own unique styles of play when they were young). The NBA ratings have been dwindling for years... its always been based on superstar potential, and GREAT rivalries/games.
