FYI: in the post-game news conference Steve Nash said he was *not* trying to call timeout on that final play that resulted in a jump ball... he thought Boris Diaw was (or whoever was running up near half-court). Stupid dribbling on his part -- zBoy's spot on.
On a sidenote, I have never liked the personality of Phoneix Suns Teams or their fans. Suns fans, in particular, have usually comes across as obnoxious to me. As for the present team, I hate their owner, Sarver, an immature spoiled brat. I dislike D'Antonio because of what he said about Yao, and I get a feeling he thinks he is smarter than other coaches. I do like Steve nash though.
It's hard to say Nash is the MVP after what Kobe is doing right now against them. But, it's about the regular season, and frankly Nash took a bunch of guys that were thought to be backups on a normal team and took that team to the top (with the help of Marion). Kobe had a similar supporting cast, but did not get nearly as much from them...and he's only got one supporting "star" in Odom. I think they are neck and neck, but going just on regular season I still have to go with Nash.
Again PJ proved that he is a great coach. To make Kobe trust his teammates and believe that they can win without him taking 30 shots and going for 40 points is a tremendous achievement only PJ (among active coaches) can pull out.
What a game by Kobe and the Lakers. Everyone thought after game 1 that Kobe would give up on Phil's "gameplan" and try to do everything by himself, but he's stuck with it. I applaud their efforts and hope they can finish the Suns off. Every year that Nash gets older is a year that the Suns as a team go further downhill...
PJ has done an amazing job with the lakers so far this post season. But please dont say this is the same Pheonix that went to western conference finals, they do not have a dominant player that goes by the name of Amare Stoudamire this year. That Pheonix team last year beat Dallas, which beat Houston. And Houston and Dallas were both very strong teams heading into the playoffs last year.
I am happy for PJ and Kobe. But at the same time, I am disappointed that PJ is on his way to lead this Lakers squad to the second round of the playoffs with just one year of coaching, while JVG failed to do that in three full years as the head coach of the Rox. Image if PJ has the opportunity to coach Yao and T-Mac. Another instant dynasty! Stupid Les!
Oh i forgot to add they are also missing an almost 20 ppg player and a very good defender in Joe Johnson.
Can't argue with that. We should've beaten Dallas last year in the playoffs. I still have that feeling of disgust.
Well, the Triangle Offense is doing wonders for the lakers. As long as their players know the position and movement, it is wonderful that they will get their shots. It is puzzling why no other teams use the triangle offense.
Game 4 of that series was the most bull**** game in terms of refs. But Kobe man, that guys is cold. I can't believe he made that layup and that shot was just too sexy. It was still a bull**** game though, but Kobe is amazing.
This is following T_mac's 02-03 season perfectly as I compared earlier in the Nash is M.V.P. thread (T-mac was up 3-1 on the pistons and lost the series). Suns will be back to win 3 in a row. The refs were horrible in games 3 & 4!
