Just give the championship to Kobe already....the NBA is practically handing them wins....dont underestimate David Stern's will
LOL, I love those reactions from the haters, just make this win much sweeter. I just gonna enjoy this beautiful day.
That Suns forum is awful. Few of the posters there really know anything about NBA basketball. Most of it is just a bunch of either griping, gloating or calling the other teams bad names. Sometimes when Clutchfans gets out of hand on a subject or two, I just think of how bad most other NBA forums are.
The Lakers arent getting to the Finals. That's ridiculous and overreacting to suggest. Whoever said that is just as bad as ESPN. They're not going to beat the Clippers. Or the Spurs. Geez. But that was an amazing game and Kobe is an incredible player.
Were the majority of new members that registered the past two months Lakers fans in disguise? I actually like the Lakers to win this series as well, but the amount of Kobe love in this thread is a little high for my taste. I do agree with one of the earlier posts though (forgot who posted it). I actually hope Kobe does well in the playoffs this year. It might be just the type of motivator McGrady needs this offseason.
3-1, need one more game. This series isn't over yet. Gonna be tough. Nash is making a mockery out of the MVP award & Kobe is helping him out. Its sad that the Kobe haters are resorting to blaming the refs. Not sure how the refs helped Kobe make those two improbable shots at the end. Gotta give Lamar Odom credit too. I've always said that the Kobe haters are the ones who have never sat down and actually watched the guy play. They just sit back and hear rumors about how he is selfish, look at the box scores to see how many shots he took, & go along with rumors about him running Shaq out of town. Not sure how you can watch this guy play basketball and not love it. Kobe = MVP
Not considering him God does not equal to hating him. By the same logic, people might call you TMac hater or Yao hater.
Seeing that Tmac is my favorite player without question, i'd be offended if someone called me a Tmac hater, those would be fighting words.
Others are arguable but Nash didn't call the time-out. He said himself at the press conference. It was Diaw who tried but either unnoticed or late.
I was skiming the suns board that some one posted and found this: . The loss doesn't hurt that much compared to Mario Elie's kiss of death. AWWWW The good ole days.
regardless...nash was still fouled. And thats the 3rd bad call/noncall at the end of a game in the last 2 games of this series that has benefited the lakers.
I feel sorry for Nash. He got fouled in the last second in the overtime. But he put himself in a situation where the refs will rarely bail a player out. He dribbled himself to the sidelines where the line became the 3rd and 4th defender. In a situation like that the foul has to be really blatant for the refs to call it. Same with the last second play for Phoenix in regulation. You cant draw up fancy plays for last seconds. It has to be with a purpose and taking it strong. That being said, anyone who does not appreciate what Kobe Bryant did today, does not appreciate great basketball. In the words of Kings announcer, If you dont love that, You DONT love NBA basketball!
Wow. Just watched the replay a few times. Kobe was HAMMERED on that game tying shot at the end of regulation.
What a freakin' GREAT game! This is an instant classic, to say the least. Man, I knew this series was going to be good, and I picked the Lakers to win it (for previously stated reasons that you can read in this and other threads), but even I could've never predicted just how enjoyable this was. I will concede that the Suns got robbed by the refs a couple of times at the end of the game, but in all honesty they CHOKED, plain and simple! This game should've NEVER gone to overtime, and even when it did the Suns should've EASILY secured the W and would've probably gone back home and won that game to go up 3-2 and it would've gone to 7 games (as I predicted), but their performance today defines the phrase "snapping defeat from the jaws of victory". Pathetic! But nothing new for the Suns franchise, they have some history to fall back on to feel better (or worse) about this improbable loss. I have NEVER seen a team so determined to lose and doing everything in their power to shoot themselves in the foot and give their opponent a new life...but I still have to give the Lakers their due for seizing the opportunities granted them by the Suns' horrible execution down the stretch and delivering on them; that was the game. Also, don't discount how much D'Antoni's horrible coaching in this series has cost the Suns a few games and definitely the series. I knew the Lakers were going to beat the Suns after I watched the first couple of games and had a chance to evaluate the matchup, but I had no idea they were going to make it easier on their opponent. BTW, how do you guys rank this as far as the most heartbreaking moments in Suns history? They have a few to choose from, I know. I guess I wasn't exaggerating when I said these playoffs have a chance of becoming one of the best ever, I am hooked!
tigermission1, Mario's Elie's "Kiss of Death" has to rank #1 in Suns history when you think about: Their HUGE lead in the first half (wasn't it over 20 points?). I gave up on the game. When we stormed back early in the 3rd quarter, I snapped out of it. KJ hitting his first 19 FTs, then missing #20 and hitting #21 (which left the game tied instead of putting the Suns back into the lead). As someone famously said on another occassion, the air was "sucked out of the building" when that FT clanged off. It's like the crowd and the Suns knew the worst was yet to com. Elie then drilled his shot to put us up by three and the Rockets fouled them so they couldn't tie it up. Of course, MJ's pass to Jim Paxson in Game 6 was the ultimate shishkebob job on Suns fans. If he misses, it's Game 7 back in Phoenix. For Suns fans, maybe this is the true #1 moment. I think it was 1976 when Paul Westphal & Alvan Adams led them in the Finals against the Celtics. That series had a number of incredible heartstopping moments. Most people here are probably too young to remember that series. There are some more I'm forgetting. These 3 stand out for me. More than any NBA franchise, the Suns represent the term "heartbreak".
