they let that run. it said 17 when blake started dashing for halfcourt b/c i was looking at it and no way it took him 2 seconds to take 2 steps.

Does anyone else get the feeling that the refs especially in the playoffs make their calls in an effort to increase the "drama" and "excitement" of each game. Like I feel that that 8 second call would NEVER have been made in a mundane moment in the 1st quarter.

He was hacked pretty damn hard there... if the refs allow that sort of defense, there's no way Denver can score.

Yeah but do you really think the Nuggets can beat the Suns? We really aren't worried about the Spurs, it is the Suns we are worried about. I would rather the Spurs advance and beat the Suns, than the Nugs advance and lose to the Suns. Then again i would be ecstatic if the Nugs advance and beat both the Spurs and the Suns.

no kidding. like melo gambling for a steal with 15 seconds left. luckily the rest of the team was smart enough to not leave any 3 point shooters but it still gave up a gimme dunk.

The exact moment it hits 16, that's a violation. I know it probably ran down to 15, but it definitely wasn't 17 when he crossed halfcourt.

In fact, that's the easiest call for the refs to make, and make accurately.

did tim duncan just get called for an over the back? for the first time in his career?

maybe they really are out to get him, even if he did kill the guy.

i know, i'm just saying it couldn't have been more than a 1/10 or 2/10 of a second either way and the ref just called it immediately like he already wanted to. or the second b/t 17 and 16 was the fastest second ever.

i know it's how everyone expected it to be, but man, has there ever been a playoffs as much about matchups as the west this year?

our series is about the only one with similar teams. we've got the 1, 2, and 3 seeds all with teams that give them a lot of trouble for one reason or another and then the top 3 teams themselves have their little matchup triangle where each team seems to matchup up real well with one but not so well with the other. pretty fun to watch.

I think they will. Denver believe they're a Top 4 team in the West, and really, they are. That team was put together later in the season so now they're playing the way they would have if they have been together at the start of the season. I expect Denver to be ready to play in Game 2, and it should be a close game.

Fact 1: The Nuggets did not "steal" this game. They were the better team and just beat the Spurs fair and square.

Fact 2: The Nuggets out executed the Spurs down the stretch (except in the last 1 minute), which was something to behold. TD failed miserably.

Fact 3: The Nuggets have two of the best closers in the NBA. Any time it's close near the end they have two clutch players to rely on. When the other players keep their poise, the Nuggets are very dangerous in tight games.

Fact 4: The Nuggets need some bench play going forward. 6 points per game won't cut it. J.R. Smith and Kleiza need to hit a few shots.

Nene gives TD problems because he has a big agile body. If Nene continues to play "big", the Spurs and TD will have a tough time.

It was interesting in the end, but the Nuggets look like the better team to me. I expect the Spurs to come back strong in game 2 and we'll see if the Nugs can hold serve in games 3 & 4.

Ladies and gentlemen, we have a series!

At a mundane moment in the 1st quarter, the Spurs wouldn't have been pressing, and Denver would have made it across.

The Nuggets should only worry about taking out San Antonio for now. If they do get to playing the Suns and they follow AI's leadership and play all-out like tonight, the Suns series would be easier for them than the Spurs series. I think they would fare better against the Suns because not only do they perfectly matchup with them, but they play even more defense than the Suns.

Oh, and before I forget, AI = All Heart, Baby! He's Rocky Balboa of the league, if the Nuggets follows their leader they will be alright. He's the Answer.

Agreed, I was saying the same thing, this series is going 6 or 7 games. San Antonio has their work cut out for them.

If you wanna stretch it that far, maybe 2/3. The Lakers don't have enough talent for the Suns so the matchups don't matter. The Mavs will demolish the Warriors, but at least they haven't started yet so you can debate it. Only the Nugs/Spurs series is the real deal.
