As someone pointed out, they are really the Phoenix light. We just need to punish them by going inside feverishly. Yao will need to step up under those circumstances for us to pull out a win in the series. It will not be pretty though, because a lot of adjustments will need to be made. But if we can beat them, it prepares us well for the showdown for the playoffs.

I actually think that we should go zone against the Warriors. I know the Warriors can shoot, but I think it is much easier to force them into a jump shooting team, then it is for us to have our bigs in constant foul trouble, or for us to give us easy buckets all the time.

Yeah... he just punches people in the nuts... and gets suspended for it, nearly costing his team a western conference finals.

they will rain threes on us all day...

Warriors are Phoenix without anything to lose but even I'd say they are more athletic. Their athleticism alone lets them make plays that save for some of their mistakes. IMO, Golden State's defense is better than Phoenix's. I'm sure they can find away to get a ton of steals when we are passing the ball into Yao and they will front him 100% of the time, and thing is they are quick enough to recover.

Jason Terry is a punk. He is a better player than Dirk in playoffs but he is still a punk. Damn annoying facial expressions.

Good thing he choked in Game 6 of the Finals last year or we would have been treated with some of the most annoying stuck up faces on the awards podium.

A good zone is played pretty much like a man to man... but the rotations will need to be extremely quick.

As for the ball getting stolen by the quicker warriors. I think that is a problem we will have to solve anyways if we are playing against the elite teams, especially those that front and double team him before he even gets the ball.

I think our chances at doing well against the elite teams weights heavily on our ability to feed Yao even when he is doubled, because that usually means that Yao has the match up advantage, and we will have to milk that. Or else, we will just become a one dimensional team.

Warriors basically pose a matchup problem with anybody(except phoenix maybe), they look invincible now cause they are new and no one could devise a strategy to beat them, but I'm sure by next year or even this series their weakness will be exposed.

The Warriors don't have the precision and execution that Phoenix has. GS tends to play very erratically and almost out of control (but they can get away with that because their team is just filled with super athletes) while Phoenix runs through Nash and is incredibly precise and just a beauty to watch.

They both run but have different approaches as to how to work their offenses. GS's offense only works in GS because no team has that type of athleticism and ballhandling (usually 4 of the 5 players on the court can handle the ball)

I still don't think its sustainable. People criticize Phoenix for saying their offense won't work but GS is the team that will hit a brick wall. They're so out of control sometimes that they're their own worst enemy. Because if they can't make their shots (like some of their absurd three point shots) then they're dead. I figure that'll happen at some point.

Maybe Don Nelson can beat his former team. He knows all their secrets afterall.

But then again, Sallas is so good - they will adjust in my opinion.

They've lost 7 out of 8 to them... now would be a good time to adjust.

would dick stockton stop talking about how shocking it is that the warriors are hanging with the mavs or saying things like "they just keep coming on." is he the only person in the world who didn't know the 6 out of 7 history b/t these two teams?

    Warriors getting 3 pointer happy.

Whoever that was on the Warriors that just stood there as 2 Mavs went for the loose ball makes me appreciate Battier a lot more :D

Exactly. They're both high octane teams, but Golden State plays a sort of "playground" style of basketball on crack... a total lack of inhibition, lots of athleticism, and unpredictability.

Phoenix on the other hand plays a high-powered offense that dissects defensive schemes like a surgeon. They come out firing on all cylinders, but they're in complete control for all 48 minutes.

The hilarious thing about this game is how loose the Warriors are and how tense/timid the Mavericks players look. Seriously, Don Nelson has one and only one strategy: to f**k up with the Mavs' collective minds. I think he knows that they're not the most resilient bunch out there, and he has done a great job of taking all the pressure off his players to get them to just be themselves and play with a "let's crash this party" type of mentality, so all they're doing really is having a little fun with a team that's expecting to win it all.

I just get a big kick out of this kind of stuff. I am basically just sitting here and watching this drama unfold with a big grin on my face...gotta love this game! :D

Where has Richardson's game gone? He's completely disappeared on the offensive end.

Warriors need to keep their composure... stay within single digits.

Dallas will let them back in.
