Is he pronouncing his name with a "W" sound, rather than the "V" sound, which is proper? Or am I wrong?
I thought the German pronunciation was "No Vits ki" ...

I would love it, but I really thought the Mavs had a lot of open shots and sooner or latter that team is good enough to drop them. It will be awfully hard for GS to have 3 more hot shooting nights where Dallas is also bricklaying. Stranger things have happened, but I am nowhere near sold GS really has the upper hand.

nowitski with the ball... 4 seconds left. 3.. 2... ohh he loses it and accidnetly taps it into the warrior's basket.. Warriors go up by 3 with the nowitski 60 foot accidental tap.

GS had a lot of open threes and layups that they missed also. It's not like they were just scorching the nets.

Dirk disappeared again, and I cant honestly remember him doing anything in a down-the-stretch situation where he willed his team to win in the postseason.

Closest I can remember is him making the 2 to tie the game a few years ago that T-Mac went down on the other end and won. But that was really a single shot.

If Avery wants to win this game, he needs to play his big lineup and force the Warriors to play big, otherwise, he's going to have no chance. No way Dallas can match up with the Warriors big swingmen.

Man, I can't wait to see the next game of this series. (ok, technically I'm not supposed to watch -- two 25-page papers due next week  ).

I think the next game's going to be another close one. Avery will put out his huge lineup, but I don't think it'll matter. The big guys they have won't punish the Warriors on offense. We'll see what'll happen -- I can't wait.

I listened to The Ticket for a few minutes last night and the hosts and callers just ripped into Avery Johnson for trying to play small. They lost last night but I can see why he did it. Dampier and Diop would be huge liabilities trying to keep up with Harrington. I suppose AJ will come out in game 2 with their standard lineup and see what happens.

I thought the story of that game was the Mavs blowing a big lead followed by Duncan's collapse (missing game winner and poor OT).

Both teams missed a lot of shots from what I saw, and the thing is, dallas can't force GS out of that small lineup. They do not have anybody who can abuse them on the post.

And I don't think dallas will be able to keep the pace that slow every game, esp in oakland.

Edit: GS did shoot 43% to dallas 35%, but terry went 6-14, harris 8-18, and howard 8-21. It was dirk and stackhouse going 4-22 that really affected those numbers.

But GS had Al Harrington shoot 3-14 himself. so each team had a big gun struggle.

    600+ posts!!! Wow!!!

As much as we'd like our hate from the Malone/Stockton to carry over to the present, I'm afraid Dallas has unsurped Jazzholes as public enemy #1.

Remember how Dallas got their sea legs versus the Suns small ball last year?

Terry, Howard and Stack are good shooters and playoff tested, I don't expect them to continue to miss that many good looks. It will not surprise me if Ellis and Peitrus brick up the place, SJ, JR and Harrington can be streak too. Baron Davis is going to have to continue to play out of his mind for the Warriors to win. He is the only guy Dallas just doesn't have an answer for (not that anyone else does either we when plays like that).

Overall I just think it is more likely Dallas plays better and Davis can't sustain that kind of play.

    Hope I am wring.

Is it just me, and I'm not saying the Warriors have this in the bag, but, how is Dallas going to win in Oracle?

Oracle arena is beast! It's so loud, the players love it, and the Warriors have a terrific home record. The energy they get is amazing.

I foresee a very tough series ahead for Dallas.

it might be stupid of me to publicly say it, but i feel if GS can eek out another win in Dallas, there's no way the Mavericks can come back and win in Oakland.

I'm not saying GS will win, but 7/8 is no fluke. Even if I throw out that meaningless game at the end of the regular season, 6/7 is still a number that stands out. This series will go 6-7 games.

The difference between GS and phoenix is that Davis is a much harder matchup for them than Nash or Barbosa because of his size/physicality, that and the warriors are a much better rebounding small ball team than phoenix without amare. Marion was the only guy they had last year who could do serious work on the boards. Harrington, Davis, J-Rich all get boards and Biedrins can as well off the bench.

Now dirk and howard will play better, and davis will come down some as will jackson. But richardson, ellis and harrington should all play better than they did in game 1. And lets not forget while stack went 0-6, harris came up with 19 points on 8-18 shooting.

Wtf...No game tonight...Why have a 2 day break between games 1 and 2...f'n Mavs...This break isn't going to help them...They're still going to lose in Round 1...

IMO the extra layoff is bad for the Mavs. An extra day to stew, to get creamed in the papers, to get self-conscious, to see their next opponent is already up 2-0. The Mavs are a talented and deep team. the more time for their faith to be shaken and to over-analyze instead of just playing ball--the better.

DV, I hope you are right. Certainly if GS wins game 2 the best the Mavs can hope for is to try to make game 7--and that would be tough.

But I am not getting my hopes up until GS gets that second win (hopefully by game 3) to prove game 1 wasn't just because Davis played out of this world and the Mavs had rust.
