I remember it well and Dirk finally earned my respect and I stopped calling him "Jirk". Like I said before, it's too bad his performance in the Finals (in the shadow of Dwyane Wade) made most people forget about the Spurs and Suns series.

On the other hand, if the Mavs lose this game, I'll unveil another name for him in about 90 minutes.

 

yeah i remember all the triple doubles. and that may be better, but he was still shooting like crap in that series. in this one he's doing everything in addition to making every shot he takes.

If you go thru my posts you will notice I am very critical of Tmac.

In spite of all my criticism of Tmac I have no problem saying Tmac >>>>> Dirk.

if Tmac was surrounded by a supporting cast that Dirk has been, he would have won couple of rings by now.

Tmac hardly ever gets help from his team in playoffs.

Dirk always gets help and he still has nothing to show for it.

 

A great player that hasn't had the benefit of being on a team this good. Please name me any other superstar that could dissapear in a playoff game (1-10) and his team is only down by two points? Please name another team where the superstar could dissapear for a complete series (Rox/Mavs 05) and his team still advance.

One...please just give me one and I will get off Dirk........

And by the way, I do think T-Mac is mentally weak....but I know he would wreck with a supporting cast like Dirk has.....

 

Weakfish Kenny Smith has no business giving anyone a rough time in the playoffs. He hit one big desperation shot in his whole career. His usual position during playoff crunchtime was on the bench. Most of the time he treated the ball like a hot potato when the Rockets needed clutch scoring. Baron Davis has more guts in a toenail clipping than Kenny Smith has in his whole body.

 

If McGrady and Yao lose game 7 this Saturday night, then you're damn right they're chokers.

On the other hand, you know Dirk's teams have always been better than McGrady's. And now we have the "best player in the world" in Kobe unable to get out of the first round for three years running (missed the playoffs altogether in one of those seasons, actually). Melo and AI? KG? How many guys are struggling to even get into the playoffs?

As I have said a million times before: this ain't tennis. If you want individual brilliance to carry the day, then watch something else. But basketball is a team sport. It's no different than if a company of 12 people has 11 slackers and one exemplary employee, you can ALWAYS bet on the 11 slackers to bring you down to their level.
