If they don't sign Schobel in an uncapped year because they only want cheap players I'm going to be very disappointed.

    Wow, just wow.

How does this happen if both sides have "INTEREST" in each other?

I agree, if the guy wants a serious contract then frontload that bad boy as the uncapped year makes it relatively harmless. If he is looking at a longterm deal do the same with guaranteed money and simply cut him whenever the time is right.

I get that but if its an uncapped year and he signs a one year deal or even two year before retiring how much damage could it do?

Makes no sense, if you wanna then you gotta spend. For the right players, like him.

so what? if the texans believe he is still a quality player that can make our defense better then they need to sign him. period. uncapped year.... 8 f****** years and ZERO playoff appearances.... enough excuses.

    relax. who mentioned excuses.

he is on the market and will sit back over the next week while the offers come in. Texans are interested so their offer will be among the others and i'm sure it will be at a fair price. Aaron will then chose where he wants to go, based on contract and situation.

But yeah, With Mario having the hip issue it would be nice to have insurance.

My posts arent conflicting at all...in both cases, I was saying that the Texans havent offered a specific contract. The Texans have shown interest...Aaron has shown interest. And until Aaron is ready to get on the field, the specifics of a contract wont be stamped out. Its as simple as that.

It wouldn't surprise me AT ALL if we somehow find a way to screw this up.

Where there's a will (to screw up), there's a way. And the Texans will always find it.

Yeah, it's not like the Texans have had four fabulous years of talent evaluation in the Rick Smith-era, or are widely considered to have the best young talent in the game. Clearly, if it can go wrong with personnel choices, the Texans will find it...

haha. yeah, some of the skepticism with the Texans gets to me because it's can be unreasonable. I completely get expecting absurdly bad luck to happen to the Texans on the field - no one beats that drum more than me - but I do trust the front office when it comes to off-field stuff. I want Schobel, but if other teams are offering major multi-year deals and the Texans are very bullish on Barwin, I'm willing to trust them.
