99% chance he's a Texan within the week.

Yes. He said he will play one more year and then retire. By the way, money shouldn't be an issue either. I don't see a way that either Andre Davis and Jacque Reeves make the team as the 5th WR and CB. They make way too much money and if you cut both them, you save around 7 million dollars.

I think Davis gets cut and Reeves stays on.

We definitely still need Reeves' services.

Money shouldn't be an issue, period. Uncapped year with no commitment for next season...are you KIDDING ME. This is has fallen right into the Texans lap, I don't see them messing this one up. No downside on this what so ever except taking a few snaps away from Barwin but at the sametime he would be an ideal teacher for the kid.

    Because he's black?

If they do manage to fudge this up all hell will break loose in this thread. Then again the Astros found a way to score some runs so maybe not so much.

Hope it goes well and Schobel still has some juice left in the tank, um not literally tho.

If the texans do pass on schobel, it would be very similar to the closing sequence in Dumb and Dumber-

Bikini contestant: Hey, guys. We're going on a national bikini tour and we're looking for two oil boys who can grease us up before each competition.

Harry: You are in luck...there's a town about three miles that way. I'm sure you'll find a couple guys there.

Schobel would be a great one-year mentor for Barwin and even Mario. Mario has never played with a good veteran defensive end before. Keyword being "good".

I'd say the chances of Andre Davis getting cut are less than 50%. Unless Dickerson makes great strides and can play special teams, and Holliday proves to be an absolute stud returner, Davis stays. He is our only other reliable kick returner (unless you want to stick Slaton back there), and this team relies on having three solid receivers -- so should two guys of our top four get knicked up and can't play, Dickerson and Holliday are a long way from being ready to lineup in the offense. They could be forced to gamble though, because it seems like Dickerson might be too risky to put on practice squad if they decide to keep Davis.

Reeves spot is his to lose, so I don't see him being cut. Quin, Jackson, Mcmanis, and Mccain are locks. That leaves 1-2 spots for Reeves, Molden, and Fred Bennett ... and I think Reeves can beat those guys out.

Don't get it. Schobel and Barwin are both white.

    Attack!

@caplannfl: #1 on his list. RT @WAD1980: Texans? RT @caplannfl: Bills announced Schobel is released.

Its an ongoing joke in the Garm, albiet not a good one.

Originated as: "Chase Budinger is the black Ray Allen"

I think it was posted by Carl Herrera, if I remember correctly. At least I know he was involved.

Sounds like Schobel has the same mindset as Favre - wants to play, but doesn't want the grind/heat of training camp at this point in his career. So he'll probably come here if the Texans want him, but sounds like it may take a little while:

Great. I guess I can stop refreshing this page every 10 minutes now.

He's already familiar with the system. When you get up there in age/years played, you just don't care about camp anymore. I guess it's true when the vets say that camp is for the young guys.

Alright, well, at least i can chill with trying to find up to the second news on his signing.

Pretty obvious that camp doesnt interest him one bit. See him in a couple weeks.

I didn't read the entire thread, but it sounds like this guy did well last year. Why did the Bills release him?

They were talking bout this in Nashville, with McClain on. The Titans fans want him, but the consensus was everyone agreed the Texans have the inside track...I would be very happy to have a productivce DE designed for the 4-3 scheme...Too many stars in alignment for this NOT to happen.

Like others have said, this is nothing but a benefit to the DL...I mean 10 sacks last year. I would absolutely be happy with two opposite DE's getting in the range of 8 - 12...Something we never had.

I would be very excited about it.
