The Texans won't do that because they don't want to pick up his salary. They would rather wait for the Bills to release him and sign him cheap.

He'll be taking up a roster spot if they leave him on the active/PUP list. I also think it's against league rules to put someone on IR that is not injured (but I could be wrong). They'll be forced to release him as every team in the league knows the Bills will have to do so eventually and, therefore, will not try to trade for him.

I'd make a pick offer for him. This would be really good for us.

    Per Adam Schefter's Twitter:

Bills have no practice this morning, but they do have news. They will release two-time Pro Bowl DE Aaron Schobel today.

The Texans are on record as saying they don't want the $8 million price tag. Got to wait for the Bills to release Schobel.

I'll be shocked if Schobel isn't a Texan by the start of the weekend.

This is what I was thinking. As logical as this move sounds, this type of response seems very likely from the Texans
offering them anything would be beyond stupid. You do not take on a big contract like that when they have made it clear they are going to cut him.

Let's see, a decent player says he wants to sign with the Texans if he's released by his current team, then that team releases him.

Let's hope and pray that the Texans don't find a way to screw this up...

They better sign this guy. One of the biggest problems in franchise history can potentially be addressed at last by a player who actually wants to play here. If they go cheap and refuse to sign him I'm going to be pissed.

McNair has to know what a plus it would be (PR-wise) to sign Schobel.

    - good guy off the field
    - Texas native

Yes it was, you cannot keep a fit player on injured reserve without a reason, he would have retired or be released because they did say he would not play for them again.

Couldn't be more excited about this. At absolute worst, he's a great option to mix into the rotation up front.

The only legitimate contenders for Aaron Schobel’s service could be the New England Patriots. Since this will be his last year, I don’t see him wanting to move to a 3-4 defense however. This is hometown team, his agent is from Houston, and he has a great relationship with Bill Kollar. Texans need pass rush help and Mario is having a little hip problem. Seems like a no brainer to me. Like somebody said a defensive line of Mario, Schobel, Barwin, and Smith on 3rd downs would be sick.

So him being released means he will NOT retire?
