This is a no brainer signing if he's available. Finally, someone actually wants to play for a Houston team. I think I'm going to faint.

look how carefully and lovingly he throws Matt Schaub to the ground there to prevent him from getting hurt. Sign this man up right now.

No brainer move. Insurance for Mario. Let him compete with Barwin for playing time.

His family's restaurant in Columbus is really good. Other than I know nothing of the guy except his stats. Based on his stats, though, he seems to be worth it, at least on a single year contract.

if its a no brainer then the Texans will def not make the move to get him cuz they never make the move to get anyone they should.....that being said, the Texans should create some havoc anyways and if they can sign this guy...do it, cuz that makes their pass rush that much better..

If he's healthy, this is the sort of move that serious teams make. If the Texans want to send a message they will go after this guy.

This is a no-brainer...Dude still has plenty of football left in him. This will keep other teams from focusing solely on Mario. Get it done Rick!

Please do this. Even with our recent history with picking up vets, I don't care, Schobel's can be a force. It would be worth a gamble just for the chance of finally having the kind of fearful D-Line we should have had for years.

    Even 6.5 sacks. Besides Mario-

NO Texans lineman has had 6.5 sacks since....Gary Walker in the Texans FIRST year EVER  (6.5 in 2002)

2008 was the only year in Schobel's career that he missed any games. Besides 2008 where he only played 5 games, 6.5 sacks is his lowest career sack year.

Lockout is coming anyway, stock up and sign him up.

Watch the Texans say they feel good about how Connor Barwin is progressing or something...

Schobel woould be great. I remember first reading an article in the Buffalo News about 4 months ago saying that Schobel might retire. In that same article, it talked about him owning a ranch in Columbus, so I was joking around with a buddy of mine (Bills' fan) that Schobel should play for the Texans instead of retiring.

Nix makes it clear on Schobel

    Chris Brown
    Posted August 2, 2010 – 10:42 am

Bills GM Buddy Nix made it clear regarding Aaron Schobel’s career with the Bills. It’s over.

“He will remain on our Reserve/Did Not Report list until he makes a decision about what he wants to do, whether it’s retire or if he might want to play somewhere else,” said Nix.

If Schobel does want to play elsewhere, the Bills will then begin to explore trade options. It’s clear the Bills will not outright release him.

You offer them a 6th round pick and see if they bite. Indications are that they would be willing to take a low round pick. I think it's worth it for a clearly still productive pass rusher.

Yeah...good luck trading that contract, Bills. This thing is going to take awhile because the Bills obviously think they are going to get a legit offer.

Hopefully, they'll be forced to release him...which is the only way the Texans will get involved.

Why offer a pick? They don't want him, wait until he's released.

By no account am I suggesting that the Texans NOT go for this guy. I just have low expectations as far as who they acquire FA wise. Set the bar low so you won't be hurt as bad when all is said and done.

Of course their GM will want picks or assets from another team, THEY'RE REBUILDING and anything helps. I'd see about actually calling his bluff, that is if Schobel decides to return.

Because it could be next season. If they're serious about not releasing him, you offer 1 time as low as you can. If they bite, fine, 6th or 7th round picks are a dime a dozen. If not, move on.
