I just have to say, if I were in Drayton's shoes, I'd have no comment regardless. If there was a handshake deal, I'd have no comment. If there was absolutely no deal, I'd have no comment.

Otherwise, people could read you every time. The moment you deny it, it's a no. The moment you say "no comment" it's a yes. That's not how it works 100% of the time, so I don't think you can assume that.

    I dont know..

Isn't rogers working for us another 5 or 10 yrs after he retires (I think he signed a personal service contract last year too right?), plus owns part of minor league team..? I dont know if he'd want to look like he was bailing on the team when he has to come back for us the next year... but I have no idea

If this is true, I see it as a good thing. With the Astros success over the past 10 years, they have rarely had the opportunity to dump veterans after the All-Star game to acquire younger players.

If both Clemens and McLane have decided to look into this if the situation warrants, then there are no hard feelings on anyone's part and it's a win-win situation.

Personally, I hope Clemens is pitching well into October with the Astros.

Yeah, but can you imagine the uproar of handwringing and whining among the fan base? It would be unbearable! I only begin to imagine the uninformed, know-it-all, mindless drivel being pounded into forums and droned across 610 and 790 airwaves by the self-proclaimed experts and would-be GMs before wanting to puke.

    Me, too!
