Behind Tate and Sengun at PF. He is not a SF. Eventually once he's good enough it can be Garuba / KMJ Sengun / Theis When Wood gets traded eventually, probably.
I think this is what we are going into the season with at this point (Christopher will be in the G-League until a wing gets hurts): Wall / KPJ / Augustin Green / Gordon / Thomas Tate / Nwaba / Brooks Theis / KJ / Garuba Wood / Sengun
Way off!!! Here is the current lineup: Wood Sengun House Green Wall Bench: Theus Tate Gordon KPJ Nwaba KMJ Thomas
Couple of things Tate is a natural PF.(Can play SF) We didn't just sign Theis to be our long term(probably not even short term) starter. Do you guys not listen to Stone? He tried to trade up to 6 to get Sengun, he's not going to be buried in the g league or third string. Stone said the goal in FA was to sign vet pros to flank the core youth and teach them to play the right way. Not stunt them and take their spot in the rotation.
thies is one expensive long term tutor. definitely seems like he's going to get minutes for that price and length of contract. but hopefully you're right.
He could be a short term starter but the goal has to be for one of the rookies to beat him out, or Wood eventually gets traded. You don't want to hand the rookies the keys without them earning it, that's true, but the hope is they will be good enough to take Theis spot and make him a backup. Nerlens just signed 3 years 32m as a back up center so the price is fine.
I would think his contract is friendly enough to flip to a contender needing a big. Aside from fit, both of the signings will probably be positive assets. Stone is manufacturing more assets with these signings. Good insurance too if Wood is moved. Would hate for Sengun to lose development minutes but I am hopeful he will not.
yeah I guess the more I talk it through in this thread and others the more I see its fine. still I can't help but wonder why not take on Adams or Tristan with future picks. they could accomplish the same mentorship as thies. but I trust that stone explored those types of moves and this was the best available. at least I hope.
this is a silver lining I was thinking of as well. sign decent guys on tradable deals and you can cash in for picks in a year or so once the young guys beat them out for minutes.
Tristan is not as good. Adams is going to be tough to make a backup given his contract and ability, he will stunt the young bigs. With Theis, as mentioned above, the signing generates a positive and tradeable asset, at the same thing he can be a backup no questions asked if one of the young bigs beats him out.
PG KPJ - DJA - Thomas SG Green (2) - Brooks - Christopher (24) SF Otto Porter Jr. - Tate - Nwaba PF Wood - KMJ - Garuba (23) C Love - Theis - Alperen Sengun (16) - 2-way: Hurt + ??? I still have hope that we move Wall in a trade... but it looks like we're down to Clippers.... maybe Cleveland who is desperate to move Love. (Yes, I would take Kevin Love right now... because he seems more reasonable about accepting a buy-out so he can play for a contender) Trade: HOU - LAC- CLE LAC: John Wall (HOU) CLE: Patrick Beverley (LAC) + Luke Kennard (LAC) + Eric Gordon (HOU) + 2022 SRP via HOU HOU: Kevin Love (CLE) Sign Otto Porter Jr. (ORL) for NTMLE Sign Justise Winslow (MEM) (BAE) keep him on speed dial Re-sign G Armoni Brooks (RFA) Re-sign G/F David Nwaba (early Bird)
Ok to start the season if Wall isn't traded Wall / Gordon KPJ / Green Tate / Nwaba Wood / Garuba/KMJ Theis / Sengun Blasphemy! How could you have Green off the bench he is our savior!! We knew you hated him!!! Anthony Edwards came of the bench at the beginning of the year and he was the 1st pick. Lamelo Ball started off the bench. Halliburton started off the bench. The only guy that they started right off the bat was Wiseman and he was so bad that they had to bench him mid way through the season. Green starting the season off the bench would be par for the course. I do prefer Garuba over KMJ but those two could be interchangeable at the start of the season. Once we move Wall, Gordon, everyone's spot gets moved up.
We already have too many pieces that could need minutes if everyone is healthy. By my count we have 12 guys that could be in the rotation. Do we envision Silas going that deep as a rotation?
Just pointing out what Kevin Love said about KPJ after he was traded to Htown https://cavaliersnation.com/2021/02...avs-player-compares-him-to-russell-westbrook/
Beginning of season: Wall/KPJ/Augustin KPJ/Green/Nwaba Gordon/Tate/KMJ/House Wood/Sengun Theis/Garuba - I think you'll rarely see these two on the court at the same time. I don't see how Gordon and House aren't traded before the season, and by midseason at the latest. End of season: KPJ/Augustin Green/Nwaba/Christopher Tate/KMJ/Nwaba Wood/Sengun Theis/Garuba
I really think they drafted Garuba to play wing. They are gonna develop his outside shot and play him at sf/PF as our lockdown defender.
PG: KPJ / Wall / Augustin SG: Green / Gordon / Christopher SF: Tate / Martin Jr. / House PF: Wood / Sengun C: Theis / Garuba
