This was the one mistake astros made. In addition to tanking, I think rockets should sign veterans who can be traded for draft picks in the future. That will further enhance the players we get or our ability to get rid of wall

This one is realistic since it's with roster as currently constructed.

Christopher might be sent down to the gleague. He might have potential, but if talking about fit we should have gotten a wing for more Wing depth.

In that case John Wall averages 40+ minutes a night.

    Start Wall Green and KPJ.

Move KP to SF as a Point Forward.

No, he'd start over Green, or if you want to look at it differently, KPJ would start over Green.

That's why Wall needs to be moved.

We were signing guys off youtube last year and plugging them into the rotation within 24 hours. There will be minutes for everyone.

Garuba not being stashed, Stone already confirmed this.

That's a tank lineup if ever I saw one.

First 5 is devoid of defense.

    Sounds good.

    PG - KP, Wall, Augustin
    SG - Green, Gordon, Thomas
SF - Tate, KJM, House (though I could see the places swapping during the season if KJ carries on developing)
    PF - Sengun, Garuba
    C - Wood, Sengun

    Christopher to G-League

Anything else depends on trades/FA tbh.

Pulling a Deshaun, except we can't trade the Tank Commander.

Garuba is such a high energy/effort guy, i expect him to foul a lot early on.

I imagine the same for Sengun given the league he's coming from, which is much more physical than what the NBA allows. I will also be interested to see whether they bend the offense to fit Sengun so he can get more post-ups, or whether they expect Sengun to stand at the 3 point line and pick-and-pop.

I thibk it is not unreasonable to expect a pretty significant learning curve for the two big guys. It might be a bit much to expect significant regular minutes right out of the gate.

One of the plusses of him as a defender is that he doesn't foul that often. His per 36-minute stats put him at 3.6 fouls in Euroleague play right there with Sergio Llull.

A lot of the in-your-face defense I see him regularly playing in Spain would absolutely result in fouls in the NBA, especially against players the refs view as "established". He gets right in defenders hip pockets and totally smothers them. He would fit right in with the 1994 Knicks. I like him, and Im sure he will adjust, but the way he plays in Europe will result in a lot of NBA fouls, and i think its reasonable that he wont be able to re-calibrate his defensive instincts like turning on a dime.

He doesnt get fouls in La Liga because the Euro refs don't call a level of physicality that would absolutely be a foul in the NBA.

Excellent observation. He is superrrrrr smart. Used to practicing against the Gasol boys and all the trickery.

I am really excited about all our newly acquired talent. Wall & EG have to go, But I hope we hold on to some vets. These guys are going to need a serious mentor or two or three.

I'm sure there's a continual moving roster depth chart going on with targeted moves in order from most urgent that impacts roster. Right now I would guess this is the current depth chart:

    Current: 14

    PG: Wall, Augustin
SG: Green, Gordon, Bradley, Christopher, K. Thomas
    SF:KPG, House, KJ Martin
    PF: Tate
    C: Wood, Sengun, Garuba

    Targeted moves:
-Sign Big using non tax payer mid level - Olynyk, Millsap, JayMychal Green, Bobby Portis, or someone like that. Maybe Hartenstein?
-Sign up to 5 G-League/team friendly/two-way talents - Including Armomi Brooks, Spalding, and a few others that played at the tail end of last year.
-Trading Gordon, and Wall for Salary cap relief, young players, and assets. This is last on the list because I really don't think this is much of a high priority as you'd think. More of a wish list item until January when they might be more aggressive.
-Move House, Bradley, and Augustin for 2nd round type of assets

Preseason Roster & Depth chart I predict, but I'M SURE Stone will move at least some of these guys before training camp, and IM SURE I will be wrong in my prediction but it's my best guess:

    PG: Wall, KPJ, Augustin
SG: Green, Gordon, Bradley, Christopher, K. Thomas
    SF: Tate, House, KJ Martin
    PF: Wood
    C: Olynyk, Sengun, Garuba

Two 2-Way contracts signed: Maybe Brooks, but I bet a team like Philly signs him in free agency as part of their MLE.

We should play Wall as the third string center. Why? Because it would be funny.
