I said this in another thread, but it looks like the primary rotation will be some variation of KPJ / Green / Gordon / Smith / Sengun / Christopher / Tate / KMJ / Eason / Bruno, with Garuba / Mathews / Nix soaking up the remaining leftovers. I'm guessing TyTy will soon replace Nix.

    Green (32) / Christopher (16)
    Porter (30) / Gordon (18)
    Eason (26) / Martin (16) / Gordon (6)
    Smith (18) / Tate (24) / Martin (6)
    Sengun (26) / Smith (12) / Bruno (10)

Minutes are going to be fierce to come by if Eason is as talented at he’s shown.

I’m a believer of KJ and hope we hold onto him, if we have to move EG in a trade, sign a vet PG on the FA market who won’t expect a permanent rotation spot like Augustin or Campazzo, need a real PG in practice to rub off on Green/Porter/Nix/Ty/Higgard maybe Maledon

I’d like to see Gordon kept around 22-25 mpg and to not play back to backs. Keep him healthy enough to trade or if they are good enough healthy enough to make an impact late in the season.

Crazy how in just one off season so many people went from wanting Garry to start to not even being in the rotation.

Truthfully, he should’ve never been a bigger part of the rotation than JC or Martin.

To be fair, Gary belongs on a veteran team but at least he did earn himself a contract.

Did you mean to exclude KJ Martin?

Nix is probably out if everyone is healthy. I think Christopher gets the nod over him.

    Guards: JG, KPJ, EG, JC
Big Wings: Jabari, Tate, KJM, Tari
    Centers: Alpi, Bruno

We lack a true point guard to run things with that rotation. Perhaps Alpi will be the primary quarterback in half court sets when he’s on the floor. A number of guys are going to be thinking they deserve more playing time on this squad. Hopefully everyone stays positive and ready to go when their number is called.

Nice — that breakdown looks pretty good. I think Martin gets more playing time, at least to start the season. He’s been looking pretty good. I can see us trading him early to free up time for others.

You need to be able to hit the 3. That’s why Mathews saw more time than JC. Tate was blocking KJM, which is inexcusable.

This is my guess for the starters and the primary backups. All other players probably get spot minutes.

    Porter / Nix
    Green / Christopher
    Gordon / Eason
    Smith / Tate & Martin
    Sengun / Fernando

I think Gordon gets the nod for the starting lineup, at least at first. The young starters will benefit from his veteran presence, and his outside shooting will open up the offense for everyone else.

And even if Eason comes off the bench, he should see a lot of minutes with the starters. He's already shown good chemistry with both Smith and Green.

Think it's time for Boban to go back to his country. I'm keeping Favors + Harrison. 2 reasons Harrison is pure shooter and can play defense at the 2 and 3, and he's under contract. Favors is way better than boban. Tbh I think it be a hard choice for them to make these cut decisions, because maledon could be better point than Nix. Looks like Boban getting some love from fans. Will see.

It would be great to be able to trade Mathews or Martin for a 2 on the former, good 2 for latter.

I like your apportioning of minutes, but for a few reasons, I think it will come out differently.

    1) You have 8 guys in your rotation. At least early and probably well into the season, I see a 9th and even 10th guy making showings now and then. We are still in the process of assessing talent, determining who belongs. Were not done seeing Gary, Nix or Boban just yet. Which means some others guy(s) get less.
    2) I think its a bit middle biased. I think the stars will get a bit more and by default, some others will get less.
    3) Almost certainly, some guy deserving will get hosed out of meaningful minutes, especially as our stalwarts establish their roles and cement their positions. My guess is Tate is the most likely of the guys you have given minutes to. But who will be that new 8th guy, if Tate is out, is a mystery to me. Maybe someone we land via trade or someone within surprises.
    4) If Eason keeps going as he has, he will demand 30+ minutes. But not right away.
    5) Moving Gordon could help, depending on who we get back.

Rockets were tanking so it really didnt matter that garrison was a mediocre 3pt shooter. And kj could have gotten minutes at the along side Tate just like hes gotten minutes at the wing this pre season.

I dont blame them for playing Garry, but in hindsight id rather have given a bulk of that time to kj.

Please get rid of Nix. I think Clutch's list is realistic, but Nix should go. KEEP BOBAN!

Would be nice if they could trade favors for something before the season.
Not sure what id do if thats what it comes to.

Basketball wise cutting boban makes the most sense. Cutting Garry would suck. Even if hes on the edge of the rotation this year hes still a good guy to have around for spot minutes.

Package ego and favors for a contract and a pick.

I really disagree about cutting Boban. The only players Alpi really struggles against are super tall players. Boban can be the antidote for that. And Alpi can practice against him. Garry Bird seems like a nice guy, but much more expendable. I would also want to keep him.

Trade Ego+Favors already. And trade or cut Nix.

Boban has averaged under 10 mpg for his career. Even if there is some tall center that alpi or Bruno is struggling against, Boban isn’t going to be much help. He can’t give you more than a few minutes at a time. Last year he was under 6 mpg and this pre season when he’s out there he doesn’t exactly look like he’s capable of playing long stretches.

Boban’s biggest contributions will likely be intangible and marketing type things. Doubt he’ll have much of an on court impact if he’s here.

Garry and Favors may be able to provide actual minutes if needed.

I really am not overly concerned with whatever they do here though because all three are expendable.
