Either way, we need a new GM. Interesting that we did the same thing this year (traded up to get a guy in the 3rd round who was falling in Strong). Strong was definitely the slowest starting rookie but has shown promise lately.
11 more cuts to go. Thompson Lamm Treadwell Slade Moala Washington Martin Pettinato Drummond Worthy Morris or Rolle
Just to be fair here though, since Rick Smith has been the GM, the Texans have hit on nearly every first round pick. I think Okoye may be the only bust he's ever drafted in the first? I mean Whitney Mercilus isn't a stud but he's at least a contributor as a starter. Not many teams have that kind of 1st round production
because teddy is about to be a future franchise qb. if o brien is some QB guru like people say he is, he could have made bridgewater a fit in his offense
It's staggering: this has been happening since day 1! I've always jumped up and down, mad, that Charles Hill a third round pick their expansion year, didn't make the team. Casserly should have been fired one second after Hill was released. But then there's Bennie Joppru, Dave Ragone... It is certainly NOT a Rick Smith thing. Staggering. It is, far and away, this franchise's greatest failing. There really is nothing - not even the QB situation - that rivals it, in terms of collapsing the infrastructure. In the NFL, you CANNOT miss on 2s and 3s. Period. They've been doing it *every year* for 14 straight! Incredible...

No way the GM drafts a guy without the coaches agreeing with it. Especially not Rick Smith. The guy is always getting feedback from the coaches.
