What does any of that have to do with who blocked the most shots in their career? Yeah, that's what I thought. I'm glad you like Hakeem, but you are delusional if you think he was better than Wilt.
No kidding. Hakeem was disqualified 62 times during his during first 8 seasons. I don't know how many of them were for fighting, but I remember him fighting quite a bit. Things were much looser back then. It wasn't like today, when you get suspended a game for sneezing on the other team's player. (see Artest recently, in the playoffs against the Spers... a rediculous suspension) Back then, more often than not, you got booted during a game, and were playing the next night. http://www.clutchfans.net/players/hakeem_olajuwon/ Olajuwon was a bad mother ******. Yao could add a little bit of that to his game.
I won't dispute this because judging from the rebounding numbers that Russell and Chamberlain racked in their era, I can imagine they would be averaging 5+ blocks easy. imho Hakeem would have produced similar numbers in that period.
It bothers me when people try to compare eras like this. Yeah, if you take Hakeem the way he was in the 1990s and placed him back in the 1960s, I'm sure he would've produced similar numbers...although in my opinion, he'd just get called for travelling every time he did the Dream Shake. However, how strong or quick would Hakeem have been if he were born back then? Training equipment, nutrition, and a lot of other factors were different. Everyone was smaller and had less muscle mass than today's players for a reason. Likewise, if someone with Wilt Chamberlain's genes were born in the modern era, who knows how much of a beast he could become with today's advances. Great players are great players. We can't downplay the things they've done as "dominance against midgets" (Chamberlain) or "playing in a time where there are no great big men" (Duncan) or even "media darling ballhog who's never had a call go against him" (Jordan). I'm a firm believer that great players would be great in any era.
hey man, i agree with u a 100 %... Jabar, Chamberlain, Russell were all great players and the best of all time, but Hakeem is always a lil better higher because he could do some many things, he had Jabbar's Posp-ups, Russell's mobility, and Chamberlain shot blocking ,... the man is a perfect package... and i didn't say that any of these players are ball-hoggers... I just believe that Jordan IS... Jordan is a ball-hog.. everybody should agree with that.. I know he was super great, unstoppable, winner, Champion, everything.. but still, he WAS A BALL HOG... and I would never consider him the best player of all time ...
