Our media is so easy to manipulate. If Trump’s team knows how to do anything, it is toss some red meat into the scrum to detract from Trump and what he represents. It’s just too bad that the moment team Trump gets the media to abandon one news cycle, Trump himself or some story involving his corruption will turn the news cycle back to the behavior and possible criminality of the president of the United States. You can’t make this stuff up.

It's a vicious cycle. The media give the people what they want and subsequently people's expectations for real media lower. Culture wars sell because people get mad. Economics and solving natural disasters makes peoples brains hurt.

for me it's simple: when those that go their entire life insulting cultures and people you would think they wouldn't be so thin skinned. If you dish it out you should be able to take it. Or maybe just don't dish it out at all and I don't know be civil for once. I'm reminded of Bruce Bowen when he'd step underneath the jump shooters feet when they were landing. I always asked why doesn't someone just do the same to him? When someone did do that Bowen, he was not happy at all. I think it was cp3 that bowened bowen. As for Roseanne: They had 'sinbad' on and he recalled the Old Roseanne he knew, the one that drove him around when he was starting off. Helluva drugs can make your cells erode with time. Public discourse has gotten much coarser since I was young. I'd rather go back to the way it was when it was a scandal to cuss on television. Maybe I'm prudish in my middle-age. But I don't think it's all that healthy. Plus it is some cheap comedy to use profanity to get laughs. Bee could have kept it clean and made the same point. Of course, there was also an intimation of incestual fantasy in there that was probably even more mean-spirited, but without using any bad words.
its not fantasy. trump has stated over and over again how sexy he thinks his daughter is, how he would date her if she was not his daughter and how the main thing they have in common is "sex". its more truthful than mean-spirited. something was/is going on b/t those two.
It's just not as big a story that the corrupt and incompetent Puerto Rican government led to the deaths of that many Puerto Ricans. It's a tragedy, but we have known about their incompetence and corruption for a really long time now so it's not really a surprise even if it is a tragedy. Also, what are we supposed to do about Puerto Rico squandering their budget for decades and letting their infrastructure go to sh*t? They are just a territory, they chose to remain autonomous from the US and in this instance that autonomy is having negative consequences for their people. Hopefully they learn the lesson and elect better officials who will prioritize infrastructure in the future.
I don't know who Samantha Bee is but I know Roseanne and she's a bigger name with a way bigger show. Her words carry way more weight. Why is this even a discussion to compare the two? The C word, oooooohhhhhhh big deal.

Cussing is hardly the issue. Dressing up as a Nazi and re-enacting the mass murder of Jews? That is a problem. The even bigger problem is that ABC ignored that behavior. The vulgarity from Samantha Bee's comedy routine pales in comparison to my own stand-up routine.
