If given the right situation, Rice could avg 20ppg again, easily.

That being said, the Rockets are not the right situation for him and he would set the organization back.

And he would never sign for the minimum.

    Walt's season avg pts/min when adjusted to Rice's 31.6 min/game is 14.1 pts/game.

When the Rocks were 7-3 to close out the season, Walt avg'd 14.7 (including a DNP and an 0'fer!).

Walt had a higher FG and 3PT%. Walt has a higher blocks/game stat (granted neither will make the all def team).

Walt gets 5 mil and Rice wants the Max. If the numbers don't prove it to you, use some hoops intuition - Glen Rice is just NOT Rocket material regardless if he can avg 20 ppg or not.

I have no doubt that Rice is able to average 20 points once more.
I also think that he simply is better than Walt Williams. Even last season he showed more than the Wizard.

However, Rice can only fully succeed if he plays on a team that places all offensive focus on him. He has to be the main man.
This will not happen in Houston. We already have Cuttino Mobley and Steve Francis. Not only will Rice strugge in our running game, he won't get the ball as often as he would like. This will undoubtedly lead to his whining. Hell, if he whined on a championship team what do you think he'll do in Houston?

Taylor's case is still open. I don't think he's the headcase many think he is. He's also quite young and might be part of our future.

Rice would be a one year thing and wouldn't help all us too much. He simply doesn't fit here. Taylor would bring us more succes, both in the long and short terms.

    This from NBATALK.com:

Word is that the Lakers have had several deals in place but all were shot down by Rice, who wanted more money to sign off on deal. The Lakers retaliated by almost signing Gill and releasing Rice outright. Now, it's a pissing contest.

So Rice still thinks he's worth big money? No way he's coming here, then. Oh well...

Gater...Again, even projected, Walt was still on a bad team, his numbers arent impressive. And projections dont work.

Im absolutely sure that I could find a 10 game stretch where Rice dominates that 14.7 ppg stretch of Walts.

Rice would definately put up much higher numbers given the right circumstance.

Rice is great player, but Langhi is the player we need to develop at that position. He's the future. So we need him in the line-up. He shoots just as well as Rice and couldn't play defense any worse. Plus he gives us some energy that Rice couldn't. Walt belongs on the bench when Langhi gets it together.

Rice is better served on a team like Utah or Miami.

More "food for thought" for the Rice lovers.

To get his points, Glen Rice took 1,209 shots (compared to Walt's 942). No way is *ELL Rice gets those shots in Houston. If you apply Rice's shooting %'s to the number of 3's/2's/FT'S Walt took and multiply by the 76 games Walt played you have an amazing 12.9 ppg.

What an amazing stat for a guy who plays less D than Walt, is nothing but a spot up shooter, can't break a press or drive to the hoop as well as Walt. Man, what a bargain a that this guy ONLY wants the NBA Max!!!!

If Glen Rice were a musician his stint with the Faker$ would put him in the category of "one hit wonders".

I saw Uncle Ben at a comets game the other day.
He was sitting next to Rudy and Les and talking with them and with Francis and Cato. Uncle Ben really looked in great shape and his body shape has really changed and he looks in great shape now.

Surely they were talking about inking a contract?

The best part about Uncle Ben is not his reasonable contract or his shooting stats. It is the fact that he is a string-poppin' monsta on the bass and will surely add some punch to Bullards drumming. This has to be the best Rockets rhythm section of all-time. I'll bet Rudy is already drooling about the prospect of getting back into the studio to re-record "Kapaya"!
