PG's are hard to find. Someone will pay this kid next year. What other PG's are even available to nab?
Horribly huge? IIRC Garnett signed for a discount, Pierce and Allen are making way more money than he is despite the fact that he's the biggest of the big 3. One thing I can't understand is why is the Celtics dilly-dallying? 2 mill a year more for a 23/24 year all-star old pg and you risk the chance of pissing him off? I think the character issues are way overblown, its not like we're talking AI or Stephon Marbury nutheadedness here. From the stuff I read, the "issues" resulted from Rondo creating a divide between the vets and the young guys on that team (Glen Davis etc), but the thing the vets on the Celtics seem to be really overbearing esp. with Garnett in there. Some of their policies just don't make sense (no sleeping on the plane etc), it makes sense that someone like Rondo would revolt, esp. if Garnett was getting in his mug all day despite the fact that he's in a suit. I don't know if there's any truth in the Mcgrady+Lowry/AB-Rondo+Allen rumor, but I hope its true. That guy's already one of the top pgs in the league and I see him getting even better.
There must be some good reason. Rondo is too good of a talent to take a wait-and-see approach and not get something done now. There's gotta be a lot going on behind the scenes that we don't know about.
