In the last 3 weeks, my post count has dropped dramatically in the D&D. Even before, I was closing out half of my replies before I posted. This is the only board that I engage in D&D topics, so I found myself caught up in this mess. Politics has made this forum useless.

    I'm certainly calm! :)

In my other post I mentioned that Reagan looked good compared to George W. Bush. I could amplify a little on that. When Reagan was running in 1980, I recall discussing with my wife whether we should consider a move, like to New Zealand (I know... I was ahead of the times. Peter Jackson has made it a hot destination! ;) ). We were seriously concerned about where Ronnie would take the country. Well, we stayed and the country survived. It wasn't pleasant, at least not for us politically, but the nation pressed on, larding on the debt with a "trickle down" that was really a flood of largess for the wealthy. In some circles Reagan gets far more "credit" for some things than he deserves, in my opinion, but life went on and goes on. Bush did much more damage to the United States during his 8 years, at home and abroad. As much as I would have preferred someone else as President during Ronnie's 8 years, I would prefer Ronnie (were he available) during Bush's 8 years.

The reality is that you've displayed very little knowledge of politics or the subjects that are routinely discussed here and you've never engaged anyone in any debate other than your typical look at me schtick or your name calling pissing contests about how awesome you are. All you're doing is derailing threads with nonsense because you need the attention and you've got nothing intelligent to say that would otherwise get that attention. You're behaving like a narcissistic troll. Just go away if you're not going to add anything constructive in this forum.

Don't make claims like you did about the congress having power over the budget when it is the president that writes it. It does have to be approved by congress, but your claim that Clinton ended up with a surplus because he had a GOP congress is laughable and you know it.

Next time, try some accuracy and you won't be called out for your seeming lack of knowledge about how our government works.

You hit the nail on the head here. Look at basso's threads and tell me he isn't a troll.

There are a lot of great conservative posters who get reasoned discussion and rational, logical debates. basso and the other you mentioned do not deserve it because they don't debate, they sling mud, call names, and act like trolls. As such, they have a plethora of posters who call them out for it.

Some of you have an extremely short memory or weren't hear early in this decade. Every day, there were posters accusing liberals of siding with terrorists and wanting America to fail, despite the fact that the liberals in question were asking things like "do we really KNOW that Saddam has WMDs?" These posters were shouted down, derided, and treated in a vile manner.

Now that public sentiment is more on the liberal side of things, it seems like some conservatives, mostly the ones unable to come up with logical arguments, just want to whine about the "liberal circle jerk" (which sounds out of place given the political demographics in Texas) and "trolls."

If you don't like being treated like a troll, don't act like one (I'm not accusing you in particular, Space Ghost). If basso started using logic and reason to support his positions, I suspect he would be treated very differently now than he is. Given his history, I don't see that happening, but that doesn't mean that other posters can't post their conservative viewpoints as evidenced by the mostly civil discussions that people have with refman, MadMax, and other people from the conservative camp.

    ROFL ROFL ROFL ROFL ROFL

    1) Right down the page from where I made that comment I explained it was just a barb and that I give Clinton credit for the surplus and BLAME BUSH for the deficit

    2) Are you just joking with me or are you being stupid on purpose? Congress absolutely has power over the budget. If you don't believe that then it is you who seems to lack "knowledge about how our government works." The president proposes a budget to Congress, but they absolutely get to control whether his budget gets approved. They change it, add to it, subtract from it, stuff it with pork, rip out spending, etc. I'm sorry you don't believe that.

I didn't see that, all I saw was you trying to give credit to the GOP congress for Clinton's surplus.

Maybe you need to revisit your college government class. Congress does vote to approve the budget, but they do not "change it, subtract from it, stuff it with pork, rip out spending, etc." They add "pork" to bills that they pass, not during the budget process itself. They negotiate with the administration in power at the time as to things they would like to add, remove, or change, but it is the Executive branch that actually makes the changes, which congress votes to approve.

You did not too long ago. I still see you as one of the reasonable conservatives who has a distinct lack of the troll gene.

I apologize, it was actually on another page.

This is not exactly true. Congress gets to take the budget through several steps where they control discretionary spending, reconcile the bill, etc. The way I sensationalized it with "change it, subtract from it, stuff it with pork, rip out spending, etc." is not a fair description though you are right. However, Congress is not required to approve the budget the President sends to them and they can change it as much as they want (with regards to things that they are allowed control over, obviously not entitlement money, etc.).

To the best of my recollection, you described yourself as a conservative, albeit a moderate one, when I first started posting regularly in the D&D. Of course, that was years ago, so things may have changed.

you arent a 'troll' - you are a 'crybaby'

big difference. all you seem to do is come in here and complain about how 'liberal' it is and how you are 'done' posting here, but you keep on posting. that doesnt make you a troll, it makes you a whiny baby.

so why do you keep posting here?

so why do you keep posting here?

so why do you keep posting here?

so why do you keep posting here?

or you could simply stop reading it.

    your posts would indicate otherwise.

so why do you keep posting here?

so why do you keep posting here?
