Ron Ron wasn't a chemistry killer but Ariza now is? ohh the irony....

I think the true irony is that the team was/is just fine with either player, despite the flack they catch. The level of defense they provide outweighs the scoring lift they would get from some of their other options.

    True.

I can't see any other team minus top 2 players with 40 million doing better than Rockets right now.

People's expectation is much higher now than before the start of the season. If you tell them Rockets would 20-16 after played the toughest schedule before the season, everybody would be happy. That's no longer the case for some reason.

Well, looks like he still has about six years to develop KG-level douchiness.

I for one am still rather skeptical about the whole "McGrady didn't fit this style of play" argument. Always have. For this very reason. Back then, people still had blinders over their eyes thinking that Ariza was going to be anything resembling a competent 2-guard for this team.

i agree....the only thing going on with ariza is his athletic abilty at 6ft8 with long arms, other than that he doesnt have anything that stand out with average role players.

ariza doesnt move on the offensive sets until he gets the ball...he is at the wrong place at the wrong time.

I loved Artest and was so happy he was here, but I understand Morey's decision. As much as I have been trying to like Ariza, its been tough. Hopefully it will be easier next year...

I said Ariza would be a 15ppg 40% player before the season, he ended up scoring more with a lower %, not surprising here. It's funny some thought he'd be an allstar.

Where are the guys that said he was a sensational 3 point shooter? Rafer was even better. He's looking like Stromile Swift to me more and more every day meaning he's not as good as we thought he was and I think the Rox try to move him this offseason. Now lets see if that contract is an albatross, the Knicks have been trying to move Jared Jeffries who has a similar MLE deal and can't.

If you think Ariza was bad, Jared Jeffries is even worse...

Jeffries is horrible. Ariza averages more points, rebounds, and assists than him. Plus, Ariza is four years younger. Should be much easier to trade Ariza.

I'm glad Ron was here and helped the Rockets have a good showing in the playoffs. This being said, no way I want Ron back on this team, especially for five more years. Ron would take it upon himself to be the leader of this team and imo do to much. The jury is still out on Ariza. The team has given him the green light to see if he can develop. If the team decides Ariza doesn't fit they will trade him, not sure on their timetable. Who do you think would be easier to trade at this point of their careers, I say Ariza. Still I say be patient

DING DING DING! And THAT is the problem here.

Ariza is doing just fine, lolt at rather having Von then Ariza.

Ppl seem to talk about his lack of dribbling skill or inconsistent shooting...forget to mention his overall defense, passing, and his intensity is always there. Just because he doesn't flex after a and one or talk trash doesn't mean he's not out there giving 110%

i'm with you on that. i do recall people saying they didn't have high expectations from this team this year, but as our team kept winning expectations slightly heightened. we just have to remember this is a development year.

What pisses me off is that there is a chance we will lose Scola because of his contract hit.

actually the more egregious argument is that von "I spent the playoffs in the time-out chair" wafer was conceivably less of a malefactor.

I dont think there is any possibility that he will be as bad of a signing as Anderson was.

I think Ariza is just in a slump right now and its getting him down. I think once he starts hitting his shots and stops feeling like he needs to lead the team, he'll be a very handy player.

Why cant people contribute to the thread instead of call someone out.

I dont think artest was a chemistry killer just a ball hog (maybe). If i recall correctly, it seems like some games last year he would just decide he was going to take 40 shots in a game no matter if he was on or not. I remember watching and i could tell yep hes gonna shot with a defender right on him while there was 18 seconds left on the shot clock. Would blow my mind sometimes.
