Allow me to quote myself from a post you previously ignored.

I especially appreciate how you basically admit I am right further on in your post, while still remaining utterly ignorant to how insanely contradictory your statements are.

typical republican attitude. from those in congress bashing the stimulus while hyping what their districts received to those red states who receive the most federal funds.

hey at least i am honest enough to see that. It is not by design nor is it my choice. I was simply pointing out a fact. Things are what they are. I did not wake up and go I am going to go rip off the Govt. That how the Govt contracts work. Also I love how you people just focus on one single line. No comments on the Bush Tax cuts that are set to expire? If nothing is done everyone's tax goes up. Not just the super rich.
    WAKE UP PEOPLE!

Thanks for playing. You lose (this time).

CBO showed at the time that households making over 1MM benefitted more than any other group from the Bush tax cuts, and there is a considerable amount of literature that also blames the bush tax cuts for the startling rise in income inequality, budget defecits, and reduced tax revenue.

GladiatorRowdy never claimed that the tax cuts only benefited the rich, instead remarking that they "really affected" the very rich. His statement was true, and your rejoinder was simple deflection - otherwise known as a "red herring". Perhaps the reason that no one commented on your post was that the facts therein were moot relative to the claim you intended to address.

You are right about this. The tax cuts almost exclusively benefitted the rich. They cut capital gains tax, which is almost exclusively a tax on the rich and they cut marginal tax rates by a few percentage points, which doesn't give much money back to people like me, but gives a huge windfall to people in the top 1%. The windfall was even bigger to the top 0.1%.

This article talks about cap gains tax - http://www.nytimes.com/2006/04/05/business/05tax.html

you mean my $18??? wow thanks Obama!!!
Don't you find it funny Obama blasted the Bush Tax cuts for not doing anything for the middle or lower class but the Rich. Yet he goes and passes something that gives everyone an extra 14 or 18 bucks.. Have you guys noticed any difference in your paycheck?

who ever said I was a republican???

Also for all those who blasted the bush tax cuts are all hypocrites also since Everyone befitted from them. This whole thing how it befitted the rich the most. Well duh they make a large sum of money so 1% can be a huge difference. But at the same time someone making 30K a year by raising their tax liability by 5% that is a lot of money. A few thousands dollars is A LOT of money.

Also to elaborate on my post earlier. I said I had no control over the Govt Contracts. I did not wake up and go let's see how much I can milk out of the Govt. It is actually quite the contrary. They actually pay less per unit cost than anyone else. But the Govt always has a huge amounts of Budget left over every years and it's use or lose it. So they go ahead and waste it on a whole bunch of stuff they dont really need.

I'm assuming this means you don't use any resources provided by the government beyond what you cover with your own taxes. For some reason I'm reminded of this story.

I’m willing to bet that $18 is $18 more than you ever got from the Bush Tax cuts.

    BTW $18 X 26 pay periods (twice a month) is almost $500 a year.

I am very happy that you had so much in capital gains that you "paid a crap load of capital gains tax last year," but just that statement sets you apart from the VAST majority of us who have never, EVER paid capital gains tax because we don't have enough investments to put us in that position. You can claim all day long that you are "not the rich," but if what you say is true then compared to the rest of us, you are.

I am personally above the median income for the US. More than half of the country lives on less than I make and when people making $250K per year start complaining about how they might have to pay 3-4K more in taxes, lets just say that most of us look at those people with incredulity. If you are living paycheck to paycheck on that kind of salary, you are doing it wrong, living beyond your means, and trying to keep up with the Joneses. The rest of us are trying to keep up with our bills, F*** the Joneses.

No. Try reading the posts above. Novel concept, I know.

This is, more or less, true IMO. The point I was making when mentioning your "contracts" is that you are trashing the government for waste while reaping the rewards from the very same waste. That is real hypocrisy.

More to the point, use it or lose it is partially the fault of rampant privatization of government work. If you turn the government employees into basically glorified checkbooks, the natural impulse is to seek to maximize your checkbook as a sign of importance. Back when the private contractors were far less, budget managers actually managed a budget, instead of just signing away contracts. Perfect example: The Shuttle Program.

This is not to indemnify the government - much of their contractual system and budget process is a beaureucratic ****fest rife with waste and idiotic clauses. But the solution is not as a simple as chanting "PRIVATE SECTOR PRIVATE SECTOR PRIVATE SECTOR". Making statements such as "everything the government does is ineffecient" is grossly misleading and completely false. As is evidenced by the lack of rigor behind the assertion and the general resistance to providing backing data when questioned.

I know it looks weird, but yes, if you are paid bimonthly it does come out to 26 pay periods a year (counting the check on Jan 1 and Dec 31).

    but you see the point

Sure you did. Did they deliver the returns directly to your parents basement?

Even if this were true, pretty terrible tax planning on your part to have not taken some losses when the market was way down earlier in the year to avoid this. Also you could have carried over 2k8 losses.

But since none of this is true, I'll leave you to your devices.

ron paul and billy bob thornton...i mean james carville on larry king last night...

carville starts off by offering an 'open invite' to paul to come speak to his class at tulane and then is very nice to him for the rest of the interview, calling him 'dr. paul' and being very congratulatory over the cpac poll. im sure as a democratic strategist he is also enjoying seeing paul get more notoriety, as it splinters the republicans further.
