He has. Many times. He did it again yesterday. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/vKH-qyYoHgU" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> The focus should be what HE has actually written and said.
In that report there are so many holes. This is a good FAQ that thoroughly talks about it (go to section 4). The reason I personally believe Ron didn't write it is that everything he has said and done leads me to believe he isn't a racist. Even the head of the NAACP in Austin has vouched for him: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qQunL58Ddjw
What reports are you talking about? I'm talking about direct quotes from both Ron Paul and his top campaign staff. Look - I don't believe he's racist or believes the crazy stuff in his newsletters. I also can see him just being the editor of the newsletter and not writing the stuff. But I do think he intentationally and knowingly engages the fringe lunatic conspiracy wing in order to benefit himself and establish a base of support, and these newsletters were a part of that. Once he became a bigger national figure, he junked that more extreme stuff and then started engaging other conspiracy people like 9/11 Truthers & Alex Jones' Infowars. Either he believes this crap, or he's not the honorable, above the board politician his followers make him out to be.
Furthermore, when one uses the defense of "I was taken out of context", the response then is generally to show all of what you were misquoted. Being taken out of context means that those opposing you only quoted a small section, and so you should want to show the whole. Paul has hardly been enthusiastic about showing these newsletters for some reason. If a friend of mine was publishing vile racist material under my name, he wouldn't be my friend anymore. That doesn't seem to be the case with Paul and Rockwell. And frankly, the conclusion you drew? I think that's even worse. Because then he isn't a racist, he's just either 1. willing to have it published so he could rake in money from the newsletter or 2. so utterly stupid that he can have a newsletter published under his name for years and never bother checking the contents of it - even Sarah Palin never did anything THAT r****ded. I don't want either one in the presidency. Furthermore, your FAQ basically says two things: journalists are liars, and Paul can't keep control over his own campaign staff. It also flat out lies about the Houston Chronicle - Paul himself only says what the FAQ reports, but it conveniently leaves out all the stuff that Paul's spokesmen said, which is that Paul writes the newsletters. Black best friend.
I think this is a somewhat valid criticism. As editor, the buck does stop with Lew and Paul should have probably stopped associating with him. AFAIK, he no longer works for the campaign... AFAIK, he stopped publishing the newsletters not longer after these allegations came up. But remember that he was working as a full-time doctor at the time as a OB-GYN and probably didn't have time to read them as a result. Right, it was a bad move by the campaign - they thought it was the best way to diffuse it at the time. But AFAIK Paul never said he wrote it... So does a racist suggest a black man would make a good VP for him? Because Paul did say that Walter Williams (a black Libertarian economist) would make a good VP to pair along him.
CNN has released the unedited Gloria Border interview. Ron Paul did not "storm out". It was a creative editing hit job. She asked the last question. he answered and it was done, and then they had a casual conversation as it was wrapping up and he was leaving. "I understand how the system works". Yup. People like Kojirou and Major will do anything to protect the status quo, they want Obama to have the power to assassinate and detain US citizens without trail etc. They want to combine the military and the police. These are the methods that they use. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/RLonnC_ZWQ0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
You're telling me that within the at minimum 5 years timespan these letters were published, Paul was so busy as a doctor that he didn't have time to read one pamphlet? Really? He never ever thought "Oh hey, sometime I should go check on that pamphlet that's written in my name and is getting me money and see how it's doing and what's in it."? My uncle's a vet. Last time I checked, he had time to read books. His spokesmen have said he did. And Hightop, you're really going have to work on it to be as funny as rhad or basso.
Its weird reading these discussions while out of the US. On topic I've always found the excuse that Ron Paul didn't know what was in the newsletters to be as troubling as if he wrote that stuff himself. If a newsletter is published in my name I would want to know for sure exactly what was being written. I am willing to accept that he isn't a racist but that he let racist material published in his name without knowledge just shows he is irresponsible.
The point is that a majority of these newsletters were devoted to the promotion of Austrian economics (Rockwell & Rothboard were Austrian economists). The vast majority of them didn't deal with social issues or have racist statements in it. If you listened to the interview, he said he only read some of the newsletters. It is highly probable that the few he read didn't have racist statements in it....
Kojirou, I think this video will help explain what I am talking about (go to 1:40): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eW755u5460A Ron describes the focus of his newsletters to be promoting his economic and business investing ideas. From what I hear from him, it seems he only read a few of these newsletters and had completely missed the racist stuff...
Even if that's true he's still an idiot if he is completely ignorant of what is being written in his name. You don't sell your name and then let people write whatever the hell they want with it. I don't think he's a racist but he's a moron if he let others write garbage like that with his name.
this thread is about Ron Paul at 52% in Iowa not about the newsletters. there are several other threads for that including "goodbye ron paul" thread from 08 election. D&D, full of hijackers. where are the mods?
It's worse than that, till this day he can't even name who wrote those racist comments. If there was 1 racist in his pool of ghost writers that was spewing all this stuff over an extended period of time, surely a phone call to his editor or others working on his newsletter would be able to settle who was the racist doing all the damage to Paul's name. If you were Paul, wouldn't you want to find out who was doing it? Some possible scenarios this leads me to suspect: a) Paul himself had a hand in writing some of the racist stuff. b) There were multiple racists among his ghost writers making it difficult to pin-point who wrote what. c) Paul knows who wrote it, but want to protect his racist friend(s). All 3 possibilities don't look good.
Merry Christmas to all the Ron Paul Bots, 9/11 truthers, and chemtrail/alien conspiracy theorists out there in clutchfans!
Santa is a corporate fueled myth perpetuated by the mainstream media, but Oski2005 might have just blown my mind.
