Ron is not a good shooter.

Ron thinks he is a good shooter

Ron is not a good dribbler

Ron thinks he is a good dribbler.

Ron is not a good perimeter defender

Ron thinks he is a good perimeter defender

Do you see the problem here?

Ron did EXACTLY what I said he would do in the playoffs, shoot poorly and often, and play good defense.

We need more, we already have that in Battier.

I still can't believe how anyone still ones TMac on this team. He never got the team out of the first round and he is not going to ever be the same player. He has had a surgery that most players don't come back from ever playing the same way again. I rather keep Ron and trade TMac, besides TMac will not be ready till next year.

    SO . . you are saying. . .
If he was not there . . .we still beat Portland? We still take the Lakers to 7?

I still would keep Ron and try to get rid of TMac. This team played tougher because of Ron. He may be all things you listed but he brought the toughness that rub on the other players the right way.

Good point Rocket River. Let see would not having Ron and let us say TMac is there instead of Ron does the team beat Portland?

I don't think you can say conclusively one way or the other.

You can guess at the answer, but since we don't know...it is all...just....guessing.

I love his toughness, I hate his shot selection and declining foot speed.

I do not think he will be worth the contract he will be asking for......

We need more efficient players, we have had enough 40% shooting wings......

Let's get some that shoot 45%+ and see what happens.

With Yao and McGrady, I would be an All-Star. Without them, I'm average at best. The same goes for Artest.

LOL why the heck would newbs be around here in 92? If we were around long enough to know Kenny Smith was a rox instead of the dude on yahoo we wouldn't be newbs then, would we :p

I think the OP made a lot of good points, but was wrong on his overall assessment. Someone who does a lot things well offensively and is a physical defender is not a "mediocre" player. That's a good to very good player, although in Artest's case he tends to go from Battier-lite to Battier on steroids. I'd say his contract right now is about par with his ability. My limit would probably be 9 mill per year. We go over that and we let him walk.

We traded for Artest because we planned on him being the 3rd option, not the main guy or even the 2nd guy like he had to become due to T-mac getting hurt and in the playoffs Yao going down.

I want Artest back, I like his heart and hustle.

I don't know if anybody caught it, but in the Game 3 blowout, they caught him on camera a few times and he had a selfish look on his face. The kind of "Stephon-Marbury" look where he felt like he was being left out. They were blowing out The Lakers without him playing well.

    Agree.
But it is partly because we do not have a good playmaker right now. So sometimes Ron had to take this role which he is not good at.
If our your PGs can grow up quickly next season, this is not going to be a serious problem.

I agreed with waht you posted, I think artist is too show off himself, and he want to be the No1 in the team, yao and tmac are gentle ,compare with his
contribution ,he is not too valuable to the team, his attitude to Kobe ,I do not think he will treat yao well when he get the contract, the atmosphere of locker room will be bad,so I think he is not fit the team.

...Wait, so T-Mac and Yao being fairly soft is a good thing? And Ron has shown respect towards Yao, and he DEFINITELY respects Adelman. You're just BSing here.
