Its not ron's fault??? It was his CHOICE to go to the lakers and if you think that because two players are out, one of which is coming back during the season, that our team sucks, then you my friend are not a true rockets fan. we have a decent sqaud without yao and tracy. and ron artest was not that great as a rocket...so get off his nu%$...glad we wont have him going left outa bounds fading away 3 point shots after trying for 22 seconds to dribble between his legs to get around a sorry defender. I dont need an attitude check..you need to be on a different teams website....i am sick of the ron artest talk around here..hes gone, get over it.

If Artest has 0 respect. Then Tracy McGrady must be high in the negatives. About a -129548.

Ron Artest was a decent addition to our team. Sure he didn't put up godlike numbers, but he was pretty key. He brought legitimate toughness to our team. To call him out for signing with the Lakers is absurd. Let me tell you this if Tracy McGrady had a chance to sign with the Lakers he would do it in a heartbeat. If Yao Ming had a chance to sign with the Lakers, he would do it in a heartbeat. WHAT KIND OF MORON DOES NOT WANT A RING?

Seriously. Traitor? He is not obligated to stay with the Rockets once his contract ends.

Also, I'm not a true Rockets fan for being realistic? Please. You are a straight up homer. You are no better than a Lakers fan, bashing Ariza to hell just because he decided he wanted a change of scenery.

A lot of you guys are way too bitter about Ron Artest leaving. His ultimate goal is to win a championship... I'm willing to bet that if Yao didn't get injured, Ron would still be with us.

Ron has a great personality... and while he seems to be an attention hog, it's much better now than before getting attention by starting brawls.

Also, there's another point to make about Artest because there seems to be a misconception that Ron didn't mean much as a basketball player. I don't know if it's been brought up, but here are Ron's most recent games, against LA...

    Game 7 7 pts
    Game 6 14 pts
    Game 5 9 pts
    Game 4 8 pts
    + bad shooting percentage

My point is that I think we're judging Artest based primarily on his most recent games, which is typical Clutchfans behavior. Now, here are his next 4 previous games...

    Game 3 25 pts
    Game 2 25 pts
    Game 1 21 pts
    (Portland)
    Game 7 27 pts
    +50% field goal percentage

So, what caused that drop in production? One thing: Yao's injury in game 3. Ron Artest thrives in a system where he is the 2nd or 3rd goto guy... it's been the case in Indiana and Sacramento. We complain that Ron dribbles too much and takes bad shots (which is probably true). But when he's playing with Yao, Ron is held in check and is able to be productive in most games. When Yao went out he took on more offensive responsibility and played outside of his capability.

Ron plays best when he's not the main guy on the floor, which could mean he would excel next Kobe Bryant (if their chemistry doesn't implode first). But if we had a healthy Yao, Artest would be a good player for us. There's a chance he could also play well next to Tracy, or maybe be able to defer more to Aaron Brooks or Luis Scola, instead of going into Ron-all-by-himself mode... but now we'll never know.

if you're calling him a traitor, then you clearly don't understand what happened this offseason. the rockets didn't make too much of effort for him.

I really hate the fact that Morey is shifting us in between rebuilding and retooling. I mean, come on. Make a choice, do we retool for next year or start rebuilding for the future? Straying in between is not going to help us at all.

I do not think the team is in a rebuilding mode YET. Morey is basically retooling. If His major movement involves Scola and/or Shane then you can start with the rebuilding process. Right now, its way too early.

    I know.

Even if Ron did resign, we'd have four or five "trade Ron for xxxxx" threads in order to rebuild.

GARM is pretty fickle. Too many threads are about win NOW and win ONLY.

Hang it right next to the Novak Jersey. You can make a wall of former under or never used rockets.
:) Im kidding. In all seriousness I think Chase will be better then Donte and hopefully he will be able to fill the role we hoped Donte would.

Dude, listen to yourself. Without Tracy and Yao, neither of which are guaranteed to come back 100% this year, our team is not very good. You are only fooling yourself if you think otherwise.

As for Ron leaving, get your facts straight. Tthe Rockets did not pursue him, offering only a one year deal. The Lakers gave him a 5 years. Do you really expect any player to pass up a 5 year deal for a 1 year deal?? If so, once again, you are fooling yourself.
