What irritated me was when Artest would call off Yao Ming even when Yao had good position.

What would irritate me was when Aaron brooks was bringing the ball up the court and Artest wouldn't even move an inch and would demand the ball.

exactly, the dude is shooting 40%, which may not be a problem in itself, but considering the volume of shots he takes, it definitely harms the team. scola is a more efficient scorer, he should be taking just as many shots if not more, in my opinion.

I think it's pretty ridiculous to say that we are 16-5 despite Artest playing this bad. The man is shooting 41% from behind the arc and taking 5.5 a game. There are only about 2-3 other players shooting that high a percentage with that many attempts in the entire league. Plus one of the main reasons his fg% is so low is because he shot somewhere around 32% his first month here. So strictly looking at the numbers Artest has been playing pretty well.

I'm not going to defend some of the horrible decisions he makes with the ball sometimes but you just have to take the good with the bad. The Hornets game was a perfect example of why you gotta let Ron be Ron. First half he plays terrible and in the second he comes out wins it for us.

I'll also admit that at the end of the game he might make some bad choices but who else is going to take that shot if you can't get the ball down in the post to Yao? Off the dribble last minute shot isn't really Ron's thing but if Yao doesn't have the ball he really is the best we've got. All we need is somebody that can consistently create their own shot and we will be fine WITH Ron still on this team. I think we are a Jason Terry away from being one of the elite teams in the league on a consistent basis.

    - Feb 24, at Portland: 21 pts; 5-13 FGs
    - Feb 26, vs Cleveland: 15 pts; 5-15 FGs
    - Mar 4, at Utah: 25 pts; 9-19 FGs
    - Mar 10, at Denver: 22 pts 8-20 FGs
    - Mar 11, vs LAL: 14 pts; 4-16 FGs (0-8 3s) 6 TOs
    - Mar 14, vs SAS: 21 pts; 7-19 FGs
    - Mar 16, at NO: 18 pts; 7-23 FGs (0-9 3s)
    - Mar 22, at SAS: 24 pts; 8-20 FGs
    - Mar 25, at Utah: 13 pts; 5-22 FGs

Thats a 58-167 accumulated ---> 34 FG% against playoff teams since the All-star. 34% . And you complained about Alston... I bet he can shoot better in these games.

Face it, Artest shooting selection is TRASH. He can't read anything, he's SELFISH, never wants to delegate on Yao, he want to be the heroe always, he has broken our offense in a lot of this games... Thats what he's against playoff teams, a cancer.

I don't say it, numbers say it.

I don't know how some still can't see that. I wasn't aware of these numbers, I just watch the games.

Ok does that really matter. Who cares what his stat shows. As long as we win the game that's all that matters. I'm sure guys could care less if he goes 0-11. Well maybe they will a little bit but as long as we come out with the win it really doesn't matter.

Holy crap, I was just checking his stats on nba.com and his fg% for the year is 40% and his 3 point % is 41%!

The stats say he should jack up more from the 3 point line! :D

Seriously though, he's barely cutting it above 40%, that's just horrible, that's Iverson-esque. And we all know what Iverson does to all his teams.

Yeah Iverson is a cancer. He destroys all his teams. Especially destroying a team that he took single handed to the finals

One year doesn't make a career. Look at what happened before and after that year which btw was 8 years ago.

I was just basically pointing out what you said. You said we all know what Iverson does to his teams like every team he been on he destroyed. 76ers- he never destroyed. Denver- Never destroyed. Pistons- It wasn't his fault. They knew what they were getting in Iverson. If they knew he wouldn't fit in the system then why trade for him. You can't ask a guy who was a scorer his whole career to become a playmaker all of a sudden.

In my opinion the coach needs to step up and take charge. Theres a difference between being a players coach vs doing nothing and having no control of the team. The coach cant allow this one player to dictate how the offense runs. Yao and Adelman need to have a sit down with Ron and explain to him the chain of command and when to shoot.

If you look at the splits, the only terrible month he had was November where he shot 32 percent. If take that month out, he is shooting around 44% for the season and 43 percent from the 3pt line. November was when he was playing on bum ankle.

I love his passion and demanding for things to happen. But seriously sometimes, you just gotta know when you're having a good night and when to pass and create offense for all the other awesome players you've got on your team. I don't think he's all terrible and all this and that about his fg%, but he definitely can be a ball hog.

The issue with Artest is not that his shooting is bad, its the reason why he shoots bad. Also, he does not impact the game offensively if he shoots bad, and a star player should not be so one-dimensional.

I know a lot of yall hate Tmac, but if his shot was off, he would still have a great impact on the game offensively. He would get people easy shots. He would routinely get Yao a dunk or a lay up at the basket or get him a good post entry pass. He could run the pick n' roll with any big on our team. He would make smart passes and he would drive to get to the free throw line.

Unfortunately, for most of his Rockets career, he had to take 20+ shots per game for the Rockets to even have a chance of winning, therefore his fg% suffered because of that.

Ron Artest on the other hand, has plenty of weapons on his team to use, but he won't use them, even though he is not in the same galaxy as Tmac when it comes to offensive skills.

He tries to do too much on his own, even when he is shooting horribly. Why not get the ball to Yao, Scola, Landry, Brooks, or Lowery when your shot isn't falling?? I know Artest isn't as good a ball handler or passer as Tmac was, but in this offense, he doesn't have to be. He just has to move the ball, and everything will fall in place.

He will get his shots, but he just seems to try to force it for what ever reason. He doesn't run the pick n' roll well for anybody else. He isn't great at finishing at the basket. The one strength he has on most people is his physicality and strength, but he rarely posts up, so that goes to waste as well.

I know he hustles and has a lil mean streak about him, which we haven't had since Barkley and Olajuwon (in a more quiet way), so I can see why some people are happy to have a tough guy like him in town, because Yao and Tmac are soft star players, thats just simply a fact.

But with that being said, it shouldn't excuse him from making HORRIBLE decisions with the ball and taking STUPID shots. The record is not because of Artest, we are winning, despite Artest's poor decision making and shot selection. Plus, others have gotten better and we've upgraded as a whole team as well. While Artest is an upgrade defensively, he is not offensively. Its very frustrating to watch him on offense these days, because he just tries to do too much, even though he's not that good offensively...

artest is the least of our worries

What?!? Of course it matters! We were wining games too with Rafer shooting 30%...

Artest is being very effective (or effective regularly) against teams like Toronto, Minnesota, Charlotte... but that's not our league. He's bothering us in most of hard games, statistically verified, so of course he must improve here. Or the team must improve in the player who covers that role. (The role that should be, not the role that Ron wants).

Agree, logically. But me could talk about his defense too. When he plays hard, he's certainly effective, but he's playing relaxed in defense in a lot of games. For example, his defense yesterday was bad, even very bad. He can play very good defense at 100% intensity, but he's not at that level regularly. And you can be more or less successful on a game, but you should always give 100% effort, like Shane does.

Sure? 34 FG% against playoff teams...?

He takes so many jumpers. When he starts to go nuts and starts jacking up threes and not passing to anyone Adelman should sit him down for a minute. Or talk to him or something.

I think he just gets too hyped up.
