I dont understand why any of you guys want him. He makes excuses all the time for why he isnt where he wants to be. He's so bipolar that im afraid he may lose it during a game and literally run and score on his own basket instead of the opponents basket. He's a drama queen who when lacking of attention demands it by being wanting to be traded and playing the victim. He let his pacer teamates down when he demanded a trade, what makes you think he will care any more about this team than any other team.
I think we should get him if only the Kings are willing to trade him or scrubs. Otherwise, he is too risky from chemistry perspective.
I would trade Shane and Landry for Artest. Artest can single-handedly win games. We know he's a headcase, but he likes Rick Ad, and Sikma, and hopefully Deke could keep him in line. He really is worth Shane and Landry. He can do what both of them do, and more. Artest is a complete player, and a viable 2nd, 3rd, or 1st scoring option. Definitely All-Star material, and if you have a chance to get him for Batman and Landlord, you do it!!!
What? Artest can single handidly win games? Really? I am looking at his team's record, and it sure looks like he is piss poor at single handidly winning anything. DD
Did you watch them play last year? I had league pass and they were a good team in the 2nd half of the season; before that, they were injury plagued. If they had been in the East, they easily would have been a top-4 team. In the West, they had too many games to make up to go anywhere. Artest is one of the most versatile talents in the league on both ends of the floor. He can get 24 a night points without even wanting to. He's got stupid talent that he doesn't even know how to handle.
artest would come off the bench for this team, because you dont want to mess up the chemistry of this team who won 55 games last season. with that being said, the rox still need a back up pg for Alston, so is Francis good enough to be the backup?
He is JR Rider reincarnated.....talented player who loafs a lot, and is a chemistry killer. I would take Kevin Martin though...but Ron Artest would be like trying to mix oil and water. He just doesn't fit into a quality team like the Rockets.....his personality is too strong, and WAY to quirky.......the guy would ruin this team. I can't wait until he is traded to LA, so we can stop all this nonsense about him on the Rockets. And yes, I watched the Kings play......and how did old Ron ron do against the Spurs late in the season....oh wait, he sat that game out....with a phantom injury. This game after playing fine two days earlier.... DD
I dont think that he would break the chemistry cuz he knows the offense of Adelman. Also, Adelman knows how to play him, knows his game and etc.
Artest is a ball hog, and needs his touches to score as well, he does it one on one, not as part of the offense. Why do you think the Kings have not offered him an extension? Agreed with Artest being more complete, but the comparison is apt, they are both NUTCASES who destroy the teams they are on.... What has Ron Artest EVER done.....what team has he EVER lead anywhere? And you put a player with that strong a personality on a team with Tmac and Yao......and you are asking for trouble. Yao is emerging as the leader, that needs to continue...you do not need to r****d the growth of this franchise by brining in a head case like Artest.... Anyone who has ever been involved in team building of any kind should understand. DD
You are pretty close. I think if we take Kenny off their hands we can make a deal, but it will probably need to be Scola as opposed to Battier and it will probably need to include our 2009 first round pick and 2nd round pick. Everything else is just a throw in to match salaries. I think they may require Brooks instead of Head though and that would create depth issues at PG, but I would still do it. I want Artest on this team badly, but I wouldn't give up both Battier and Scola, because it would create a depth problem at 3 and 4. Les is very publicity conscious so he might be vetoing any trade for Artest. RonRon should just declare himself a vegetarian and that would seal the deal.
Chemistry off the court can be just as important as on it. On the court he's fine, it's off of it where he gets into trouble. The fact that he's representing himself tells me something too. He trusts no one. The Rockets are a team that trust each other. You think that isn't going to cause some problems from the get go. Even when Jackson came in the middle of the season last year he fit in seamlessly. I just can't see Artest fitting in seamlessly anywhere.
...coming from a guy who wanted Gerald Green back, made a post about Marbury, just basically isn't content with Rafer, when it's clear Skip is the most realistic, and best option at Point, and who's sig includes overpriced Udrih, Mihm who hasn't played a game in like 20 years, and wanted Magette for the full MLE. God bless Morey!
Artest's efficiency numbers (posted over a 20 PER last year according to 82games) blow Rider away even in his best seasons (where he hovered around 15-16) - and as far as I can tell he has been FAR FAR deeper in the playoffs (2004 ECF) than career first-round failures like Messrs. Yao, McGrady, Battier.
You could say the same about T-Mac. What team has he ever lead anywhere? All accounts I have read, suggest that Artest has not been a problem in the locker room. His teammates have pretty much supported him whereever he has gone. Adelman was a good influence on him and he has not been in any trouble for a couple of years. If it doesn't work you let him walk and Kenny Thomas' contract is up in 2010, which is the year Morey is targetting if the Yao/T-Mac tandem doesn't produce. Unless you are going to trade T-Mac or Yao we need to win now. The current cast will not get it done, especially if Artest goes to LA for Odom.
There is no doubt about his talent, my problem is completely with his chemistry, and what he would do to a team I consider to be very close to competing for it all. It only takes one year for a team to gel and finally get over that hump....the Rockets if healthy would be a serious contender..... Especially if the following were to happen... 1. Brooks develops into a decent backup PG 2. Barry provides that extra penetrating presence late in games 3. Landry resigns and is healthy That team can compete, and if you can somehow pull of a late trade for expirings of Francis, BJax, Head, and any others...than even better. Ron Artest is too much of a chemistry risk......I just don't think he fits..... DD
