I'd give him a standing ovation.

He and Scola led this team to the second round of the playoffs.

He did cause some problems in the locker-room and it becomes apparent when the Rockets talked about him after he left. And yeah he played his ass off, but was not the leading factor in our success last year. But he's a Laker and said he was going to shut somebody down when they play. Oh course I'm going to boo.

Yeah...he didn't care for TMac being a total puss...and neither did anyone else. Yeah, he had nothing to do with the Portland victory...

I think it's pathetic that you would boo him when he played his ass off for this team and didn't want to accept our ONE YEAR offer to play without Yao

You're giving him too much of a pass. He did not get along with Alston either, if my memory serves me right. Clutch alluded that the Rockets merely tried to bottle it up and keep his behavior on the down low.

Unfortunate, because not letting the stories out is allowing people like you to paint him in glory retrospectively, and call the opposing opinion "pathetic".

"The Rockets had not pursued Artest, first chasing Orlando Magic center Marcin Gortat and then Ariza."

    http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/bk/bkn/6509192.html

There are other articles out there that also say that Artest was only offered a one year deal. Facts speak louder than opinions.

Yeah he had something to do with the wins, but you can also say he had a hand in some of the loses when he tried to jack up shot after shot. And I could care less that he didn't want the one year deal. The point is he talked about he was going to shut the Rockets down and he is a Laker. That's it.

No, allegedly Rafer was the most vocal about TMac's attitude and effort last season. You are getting confused.

All I care about is what goes on ON THE COURT. And on the court, though he could get out of control at times with his shot selection, Ron gave his all. He didn't have any crazy outbursts out there (look at the LA series), played with a ton of defensive effort and did his best to try to fit into our system and always had Yao's back.

I guess that means something to me. He also played a big role in getting out of the first round for the first time in YEARS. I understand why he left...we offered a crap deal, didn't really want him (I understand the decision...he isn't good for a first option role on a team like this year's) and the freaking LAKERS offered him 5 years

You want to boo someone? Boo Carlos Boozer. Don't boo someone who gave his all to our team

EDIT: and I'm not saying that you have to cheer for him (though I would during intro's), but to boo someone like that is totally Jazz-fan worthy

You have to cheer, if you boo, he might personally punch you in the face. ;)

    Just Kidding.

This is a tough call. I'm glad that he played hard, and didn't cause too many problems that I know of, and helped us get to the second round. I also give him points for saying he wanted to stay with the Rockets even after Yao's injury.

On the flipside, he signed with the dreaded Lakers. Outside of Utah or maybe Dallas, you can't go to a more hated team.

BUT, would we have Ariza if he didn't sign with the Lakers? (I can't remember exactly how that went down).

Anyway, if I were there, which unfortunately I'm not going to be, I would clap but not cheer or boo him.

Artest was never in the plans and neither was Von.

    Plan A. Sign Gortat

    Plan B. Sign Arize

    We are lucky A. failed

Artest and Tmac had issues. Artest was better at hiding it. Rafer would call anyone out who was out of line though there was nobody to call him out

Uh, everyone should have had issues with TMac. He allegedly didn't rehab properly from his knee surgery, took games off, didn't play defense, didn't play in the motion offense and QUIT in the Toronto game and took 10 days off in the season to "strengthen the knee". Yeah, who wouldn't love someone like that?

I guess if you feel that's a reason to boo someone...for having issues with a player behaving that way...then there is nothing that I can possibly say that will change your mind

    I didn't say I would boo artest.

Yes, the whole team had issues with tmac but tmac had issues with Artest. Tmac couldn't play with him.

I liked Artest when he was a Rocket so I wouldn't boo him. If you want to boo someone, boo Derek Fisher... I'm still pissed about what he did to Scola last season in the playoffs...

They all did. Ron definitely helped. My only problem with Ron is he put himself before the team when it came to coming to practice etc..

Kobe receiving his star treatment and artest got upset about it.
Now if kobe DOESN'T receive star treatment he gets upset about it
    Should be fun to watch
    Personally,
I like him as a person
    Hate him as a player
    Boo him!
