Over analyzing it, I think part of Artest going into the stands is him really believing he is OF the fans, more than a lot of players. The distance between player and fan wasnt ever that wide with Artest. He was just as likely to go accept that fan's invitation to an afterparty as he was to going after him for the beer.

do you actually believe this crap?

yeah zen master was in control when his dynastic team imploded and shaq ended up running out of town and leaving his team in the crapper for the better part of a decade

and zen master was on the job controlling things when his first meal ticket booked it to MLB and wasted a couple of years

the bottom line for LA is that with artest or without they have the most talent in the West. whether he flips out or no it's a very small gamble for the Lakers

that is over analyzing it. dunno about all the OF THE FAN stuff. more like he simply likes to be popular. like Ochocinco he's made the connection that being funny and accessible is a very low risk and high reward from the fans, particularly when the traditional outlet for popular exposure (the media) isn't in your corner. keep in mind that Artest is getting a lot of mileage out of these stunts. he's not just going out and hanging with a Filipino family for fun, he's posting it all up on twitter and his publicist is working double time to get it on all the hoops blogs and on yahoo news etc. It's just good exposure with the benefit of seeming more "authentic" for people who are drawn to this type of stuff so he can sell his reality show etc

I'd more impressed if he is now friendly with the guy he actually beat up.

Actually John Green came from behind and started punching Artest while Artest was pummeling the wrong guy.

Alright. I'm thinking the same way, just saying it a little different. I meant maybe FOR the fans then. Or playing directly TO the fans. Basically his conscious fan involvement brings him just that level closer to accessibility.

Yeah I didnt mean Artest is common man Joe Six Pack. Anything he'd do with fans would be a marketable publicity thing.

Ron should give John Green a kegerator...or at least a cold beer. No man likes to part with his beer in those types of circumstances. Ron being a jackass on the court back then forced this fan's hand. Or, Ron should have a bucket dump beer on John Green at the end of a friendly interview. Maybe they can brawl after that...if unable to laugh off?
