Amen to that. I've already had enough of all this trade talk. Dallas' trade gives us the advantage over them but could you imagine Artest on the Spurs?

Who would the Spurs trade to get Artest? Brent Barry+ rights to Tiago Splitter? I would have to guess something along those lines.

Not happening. Spurs would have to give up Manu or Parker one of em would go. Either that or Elson plus Oberto would be gone.

Yup, Barry, Elson, picks and/or Splitter seems like a pretty good offer to me. They have to feel that they are going to lose Ron Ron after this year and their chances of making the playoffs are very slim, so expirings and picks and/or Splitter seem pretty nice.

Goeff Petrie would never trade Artest to a WC team. Only that idiot GM in Memphis would trade his best player to a team you would have to meet in the playoffs.

How is it contrary to San Antonio's philosophy? They had Stephen Jackson as their starting SG for one of their championship teams. They aren't above acquiring a hot-headed, temperamental, and erratic player. They probably feel that they have the type of leadership with Popovich and Duncan to keep him in check.

I heard the same thing, but i thought it was mike tirico who was saying it. They all have the same voice  . I did see a brief mention of it in the salt lake tribune, skim to the bottom of the article

This is the NBA, and pure talent-for-talent even trades don't happen here.

That said, I don't see the Spurs giving up Barry for Artest. This is a team that is still trying to skim 60 grand off its books to get under the luxury tax, too.

i don't know why people would be shocked to see the spurs add artest....he's had his problems in the past, but Popovich seems like a guy who can handle different personalities, plus on top of that he's talented as hell.......

It could be a win win for them. Spurs gets another championship with Artest, which would bump up Artest's value. He signs with other team in the summer, Spurs gets under the luxury tax. With Duncan getting older each day. They probably want to stack up as many championships as they can right now.

Sam Smith, Peter Vescey, and now Chad Ford. Every year at this time these three are the premier sources for false rumors.

    Spurs Closing In On Artest?
    February 20, 2008 - 4:59 pm
    Sacramento Bee -
According to the Sacramento Bee the Spurs are closing in on a deal for Ron Artest.

The Spurs would send the expiring contracts of Francisco Elson and Brent Barry for Artest and possibly include a draft pick.

It is also believed, however, that Denver may be ready to part ways with Linas Kleiza for Artest.

Houston also reportedly had conversations with the Kings about Artest
