I hate this guy so very much, so its fitting he's on the Lakers. Now where is that Artest Rockets jersey I need to burn...
It'd be funny if Ron traced the problem back to the Lakers... or himself. I, for one, have a clear conscience.
Ariza would have counted as a Base Year Compensation player in a sign and trade, that's why it wouldn't have worked. Both sides would have had to throw in more stuff and possibly involve a third team. http://members.cox.net/lmcoon/salarycap.htm#Q73
ron is an entertaining character and one who probably is a bit smarter than people give him credit for. he is though one of the most oddest players in the league and really about 1/2 way through the season i stopped caring for what he said, a lot of things were entertaining but I am not even sure if Ron believed what he said. He tends to say things that he believes that his fans (or the team he is on) wants to hear when he was traded to the rockets he said all the right things "i'm a yao ming soulja" "i like the rockets" etc etc because the issues were can he fit in with yao and tracy now on the lakers the biggest challenge for him is to play defense and focus more on that than offense so he goes and says something like this if I was a lakers fan I see my new FA say something like this it pumps me up and makes me like the guy. Ron knows how to work the crowd and get the casual fan to like him i mean fine who is he going to D up on the Rockets? Scola? Brooks? I mean those two guys look to be the main scoring threats. Whatever the lakers dont worry me next year (as in the rockets dont stand a chance against them anyways long term so why worry about who Ron "locks" up esp when there is no 20ppg scorer on the team right now) Ron was fun while he was here, I enjoyed watching him play but I think people gave him too much credit. (as much crap as Tmac gets, give me the 08 playoff tmac this year and replace Ron and the Rockets still get past portland in the first round, probably in 5 games) The Rockets did more to help his image than the Kings ever did and rather than making statements like this he really should keep quiet. But then again that wouldnt be Ron so who cares

How did it come to this...
Honestly, from the video I saw and the things Ron have been saying about how he felt about wanting to stay in Houston, I thought I saw a hurt and disappointed Ron Artest when he found out from his agent that the Rockets could not offer more than 1 year. I know he says he wants to retire at every organization he plays for, but it seem like this time he was bothered. I still watch those Portland games when I work out...and think about what could have been if McGrady was healthy this year. Absolutely ridiculous. Now both of my teams -- the Kings and the Rockets -- are at the bottom of the league. If Yao was healthy, I think Ron would still be a Rocket. --- On another note, I still believe the McGrady + Yao experiment is not over. And I do think we can make it to the WCF with this roster, healthy.
I enjoyed him while he was here... but He can't move his feet like he use to on D and if you make him go right his shooting % goes way down so. I'm not as worried about Ron killing us as I am about Kobe... but now we don't have Ron to piss off Kobe so we might do better against them. Either way. LA SuX!!!
I wondered at first why LA wouldn't agree with a SnT, but didn't it ultimately help the Rockets? Meaning, I believe we couldn't use the injury exception on multiple players. So maybe it was the Rockets who didn't commit to a SnT? Not sure we could have signed everyone we have without the mid-level.
Man, that vid already feels nostalgic. I guess things can change a LOT over the course of a few months. As much as Tmac likes the PnR and as poorly as Ron defends it, if I were him, I would just keep quiet.
Whenever Ron gets amped up, he tends to go crazy and start shooting low-percentage shots. I wouldn't be surprised to see him try to take over the game (which he proved he's incapable of) even though he promised to do it only on defense. That's good news. Anytime you're playing against Ron, it's best to try to get him razzed up to goad him into jacking shots up.
