The new Ron Artest met up with the old Ron Artest for a brief moment. Unfortunate. The new MWP didn't have intentions of going to Harden's head. But the old Artest did have intention with the elbow to get Harden off him. And then the older Artest (Indy version) reared his ugly head and sent that elbow up higher. The sad thing was Harden was standing there incidentally waiting for the inbounds pass. He wasn't chasing down Ron. Ron initiated the body contact by moving in a path towards Harden. Just goes to show how ugly this guy was and still can be. Very unfortunate. They have to give him a substantial suspension. No other choice here.
Why is Ron Ar... I mean Metta World Peace, holding his crotch with both hands while being confronted by Ibaka? I believe his season should be over.
The NBA can't afford Ron's strike three so something seriously needs to be done here. Max = lifetime ban Min = rest of the season and part of next.
The only point I can think of, if you want to call it that, is to satiate the human impulse for retaliation. It serves no purpose (in basketball) as far as tactical advantage or even truly defending a teammate.
I wonder what would happen if Harden put a bounty on Artest's head. lol That elbow was incredibly malicious and definitely intentional. The lack of eye contact and the follow through point in that direction. I foresee a 10 game suspension for that. This isn't the NHL, this is David Stern's world of strict rules and harsh punishments.
Minimum 3 games and max is 5. People are overreacting. This happened in the 80's all the time. I'm hoping stern goes easy on the guy, because Ron is not a bad person. Just super competitive.
David Stern is a sackless commissioner. you only have to go back to the last rockets playoff series. fisher gets one game for laying out Scola and Kobe gets a nice "don't do it again" for an apparent elbow.
Carmelo Anthony was suspended 15 games for punching Mardy Collins back in 2006. Considering Ron Artest's history, I wouldn't be surprised if he were suspended 8 games plus the postseason.
From Ron's Facebook page: "I've seen the replay again..... My celebration of the dunk really was too much... Didn't even see James ..... OMG Looks bad. I'm truly sorry"
