Manny, I wasn't trying to make you look stupid... just stating an opinion based upon pics I had seen of both in the past. I've always held that there are only 3 places in Europe that I just have to visit : Rome, Stonehenge, and Greece. With pictures like the above, I definitely know I have to visit Rome.
sorry it took me so long to respond. No i didn't climb on Vesuvius, but i threw up on the Colosseum. "and with that, Ninja leaves his legacy upon the world." edit: if you ever go, check out Pompeii. Freaky, weird vibes there, like the Sixth Sense haha. They had magma encased bodies on display, very very eerie and interesting, also interesting was how they lived, walking through the ruins and imagining a bustling community thousands of years ago was a cool feeling, as Psycho Robbie would say. Funny thing happened, at the Sistine Chapel and the Vatican, they won't let you take pictures, because it'll damage the art or something like that. My mother, being the kind of person she is, took many pictures, which did not please the security. If I saw the Pope I would've asked him if he liked radiohead or video games. And the people here are beautiful. Everybody's in shape, its fabulous. And I'm not a shopper, but I actually enjoyed shopping here, it's so exotic and cool.
*sob* DoD, rimmy, Finn: You big old meanies! Yea, I know that you-all weren't trying to make me look stupid. Rome is a beautiful city and is one of the top places in the world that I would love to visit. Ancient Rome was always my favorite era in world history. Here is a good article on the Circus Maximus:
My friend and I managed to film inside the Sistine Chapel. I walked in front, he held the back of my shirt, with the viewfinder(? the lens?) pointed straight up. Managed to get some good film, too. If it doesn't flash, they won't notice. And, being Italian, the guards would probably shrug anyway and light up a cigarette. If you go to Rome, word of warning: watch out for the Gypsies. I lived in Sicily four years; when I visited Rome, I became a statistic of the famous "distract-and-grab" routine. Three Gypsy women surrounded me, one pulling my sleeve very vigorously. Protecting my watch and my wallet, I never felt those fingers in my front pocket, taking that wad of bills. By the time I understood what had happened, they were gone. They gather around the train stations and the main tourist sites. You might be slightly disappointed when you first see the Colosseum. It might seem smaller and darker than you imagined. Your opinion will change the more of it you see. The fact that it even remains is impressive; and you can easily imagine the events that transpired so long ago. I like Rome for its old architecture, its spectacular setting, and, good God, the women.
You're so confusing. Why what? Why do I want to visit those places? The buildings and the history behind them more than anything else. I've been fascinated with Greek and Roman history and buildings since I was a kid -- I never acted on those interests, though, so I'm no expert on the matter.
damn you hosers! ROXTXIA beats me to the punch about all of the thieves in Rome. 20/20 had a cool piece about that a few months back. A-Train beats me to the White Men Can't Jump "Va-SOO-V-US" quote! What did Joey say in that episode where he gets the "V" encyclopedia for 50$ ?
