LOL, you obviously do not know very much about Roman history. Not that I'm a pro on it but they have tons and tons and tons of history to work from. There are 4-5 Caesars after Augustus. I'd love to see it go all the way through Nero burning Rome. This show could go for a long time.

That's one hell of a story though. How does a kid outmanuever everyone to become the greatest leader of Roman history?

I thought the scene where he initially thinks the only thing he'll get from Ceasar is his name and Antony says something like "good luck with that" and you can see Octavian putting the pieces together was great.

(That kid's a damn good actor by the way.)

The scene with Antony and Brutus was great as well. Rome contains the best dramatic representations of politics since the first 2 Godfather movies.

To do that you would need a whole new cast, new sets, new costumes. Basically, it would be a different show, like Star Trek and ST:TNG. That would be doable, but it would be even harder to build an audience when you have to keep establishing new characters from scratch. I wish they would make more somehow (there could be several seasons just of Ceasar Augustus' reign) but I can understand that the economics of it are not feasable, especially for HBO.

What the hell happened with Antony's speech?! I wish they would've shown it! I was looking forward to it.

There's an incredible amount of potential covering those years before the reign of Octavian. (and much during it) The opening episode of the 2nd season was superb. The acting, writing, and direction are as good as anything ever seen on TV, IMO. From everything I've read about the period, and I'm a history buff who has a big interest in Roman history, there may never before have been as accurate a depiction of life during those times. Certainly on TV, but I think it's true for the cinema as well. I'm completely bummed that this will be the last season, but we're lucky to have had this experience at all.

Not true at all. Read "I, Cladius" by Robert Graves or watch the cheesy eighties PBS miniseries based on it. There's TONS of story left to tell...

You know who's gained weight to, Atia...I also think Gaia is pretty hot...You know, mamasan...Turning out to be really good story...

I can't believe how evil Vorenus is...What a b*stard...I know he's lost his wife and kids, but damn, going off on Pullo...And in the end, Pullo coming back and finding out it wasn't all for not afterall...Cicero is pretty funny and ballsy...I wonder what Timon's brother is up to...Also, need more Cleopatra and more T&A...I've seen all the fudge packing I can stand....

Fast forward 3 months and Marc Antony and Vorenus have left and the battle for Rome is coming...sweet...Servilia getting someone on the inside to poison Atia is pretty crazy...That boy staging the fight, becoming a servant/b*tch and then getting it on with the kitchen lady...

Next weeks episode looks good...Of course, i'll be watching the superbowl...I guess that's why god made Tivo...

I was dissapointed by the recent episode... by far the only bad episode. I get the point that Vorenus is a broken man. I get the point that human life was not greatly valued by Romans. I get the point that there was sex and drugs. I get the point that HBO lets you shoot a penis from an oblique angle while network TV does not. I don't need to be beaten over the head with it for an entire episode. No Octavian at all? There was very little that moved the central story forward last night... not much about the political situation. If I wanted to watch a soap opera I'd stay home from work. The scenes where Antony is talking to Cicero and where Cicero's speech is read were more than a bit over the top. Good to see Agrippa show up though.

Plus, the divergence from historical fact for "artistic purposes" is reaching epidemic proportions.

I hope they make amends in the coming episodes.
