I will try to watch but, as I love Rome. However, I do agree that it can get very stale at times. Back in the day, I used to dread missing even a bit of the 4 hour show. Now, it can be kinda hard to make it through three. I like Rome more than most others out there, but my biggest beef is that sometimes he'll have a great rip on something that totally makes me laugh my ass off, but then he'll beat that joke to death, and it'll get old quickly.

Regardless, he does do his homework, so I think he should get props for that. I would take Rome over that PTI mess any day.

I usually listen to the first half hour, that's when he get all his rips in. After that, he just repeats the same jokes in between endless Laker takes.

Like many others- I use to love the show but grew tired of it after a couple years.

It does seem strange that he does his radio for Fox owned affiliates and now TV for ESPN. Does this mena he may be moving the radio program over as well to ESPN?

I'm with a lot of y'all who use to listen to his show a lot. Every now and then when I'm driving and he's on, I'll listen, cause he can damn funny sometimes. But after the occasional great comedy, his act (even though better than the average radio sports talk show) is still the same old surface analysis sports crap all over the radio...which is basically the whole reason for my transition from sports radio to BBS reading over the years.

I listen a few times a week on my way to lunch but I quickly turn the station as soon as someone calls in and does a "take". It sounds as if everyone is reading off a cue card so they can get racked, plus I have no idea what half the dang slang terms refer to ;)

Funny how its now all L.A. Lakers and Anaheim Angels talk nowadays, with the occasional USC is playing the best football.

    Is anybody watching?

He talked about the Lugo thing, basically just said way to go to the Astros for not tolerating that kind of behavior.

He put down Todd Jones, brought out Mark Grace, who is one of my favorite guys in sports. Of course he told the slump buster story. . .again. I liked Grace's quote about Jones though. He said that 1 in 7 men is gay, so odds are you've already played with gay guys before. Then he said that gay guys are there to play just like straight guys and "just because they take a shower with you, doesn't mean they're looking at your chili."

Anyways, the show is basically an amalgamation of The Last Word and The Jungle. I thought the voice mail thing didn't work to well, especially since the first guy was weak.

Anyone have a picture of the Orlando Predators billboard that got taken down? It's a scantily clad female ready to snap the ball and the caption says "Get Behind Your Team!". It was genious.

    that is not so genius.

i thought the show was pretty good. talking about todd jones, he said something like "yeah, you don't want a gay player around you? well i'm sure a gay player doesn't want a pitcher with a 5.78 era around him."

There is a difference between a dramatic pause and taking a nap in the middle of a segment. :)

    His callers are idiots.

I like the show, but only when its him talking or with guests. When he lets the morons try to be witty, it makes me cringe. RARELY is one actually original and funny.

Same thing, it appears, with the TV show. Good job...until he let the morons call in. (Voicemail). It was like the show came to a screeching halt.

Matt basically turned it around saying he wish he had a national show, blah, blah.

I thought the first Rome Is Burning show turned out pretty good. I was pretty entertained. My main gripe was with the backgroung music. it was TOO loud during Rome's takes. Turn it down!

Seemed like they jam packed a lot in that one show. Rome Takes, Interview, Correspondant Interviews, Round Table, Voice Mail etc etc.

It will be interesting to see what segments get dropped or lengthened.

I personally liked the Round Table segment, particularly Lampley's and Bayless' takes. They need to be on each week. Those were great! The Grace interview was also great!

I thought the show didn't pull any punches and particularly liked the talk on homosexuality in baseball/sports. Nice takes there!
