hmm...i actually enjoy when he talks about sports - unfortunately those moments are few and far between. jim rome has made jim rome the most important topic on the jim rome show and that is the problem. i started listening in 95 in austin, but never really got into all the "clones" "epic smack" stuff. "wow he uses different words for stuff than everyone else. he calls teeth "chicklets", heads are "domes" and automobiles are "sleds" - thought it was kind of silly, but i did enjoy his show. i drive around alot for work and that was what was usually on. however, about 2-3 years ago i just started getting sick of him. i cant even explain it - it was just all of a sudden a light went off and i couldnt stand him anymore. i cant listen for more than about 2 minutes now. the "neckcar" money-grab is pretty obvious and extremely lame. he hated it till he saw the advertising opportunities related to it and now he's a nascar guy. he's down. he can get with it. and the total brownnosing he does for people like steve elkington - "oh elk, your so cool - tell me again elk, how you shot a deer with a bow and arrow - your so epic elk...thats great ellk"
Jim Rome is nothing more than a horrible show. I like the rest of you listened daily and I was a huge fan of the show for about a year. Now I don't think I could hate the show any more than I do. First off the callers absolutely kill the show. They are not funny and are all scripted, I mean is he holding comedian auditions on his show? And the worst part IMO is all the self love he has. After EVERY interview he spends the next 15 minutes reading the EXACT same e-mails he read before the last interview and the same ones he will read after his next interview. They all are "thanks Rome now I have to clean the (insert coffee, coke, etc.) off my computer screen epic interview I didn't realize (insert guest name here) was such a cool guy" or "that is one of the best interviews I have ever heard thanks Rome for having them on the show" It is the same e-mails praising Rome and his "epic" interviews. He is so arrogant it is not even funny when he started to pimp himself hardcore on his show I lost all interest. The show is the exact same every day. I can tell you exactly how the show will go tomorrow and I have not listened in a year.
And how many times do I need to hear about when his dad put his dogs to sleep? I must have heard that story around 20 times. Also what really irks me about his show is how something horrible will happen like death then his "clones" will start sending him e-mails making fun of it. He then proceeds to say "don't give me any more of these e-mails. I don't want them I don't like them and don't want them on my show" Then he will put the paper up to the microphone and ball it up so we all can hear. Then proceeds to read those exact e-mails throught the remainder of his show. He is such a horrible radio host.
The lingo is stale. I mean not being able to listen to the pimp in the box, because someone didn't bang their monkey. He doesn't bother me as much as his clones that worship him.
I've always hated him because he is plainly and simply an atrocious broadcaster. He has a horrible speaking voice and an even worse delivery. Even if his schtick WAS funny you'd never know it, because of the horrible execution. Twenty percent of his show is dead air and the sound of paper shuffling. The highlight of his career, as far as I'm concerned, was getting his ass kicked by Jim Everret.
I never liked his show. His "in your face" tone of voice and attitude were way to thick. It sounded like it might have juvenile appeal to younger kids, but even they will eventually grow out of its novel appeal.
I am wanning off Rome He still is funny time to time mostly it is the CLONES that are funny the TAKEs and Emails. . more than him The funny thing is Mark and Rich are a less funnier version they just don't read any emails and their callers are not funny The talk about sports less than he does but what they do talk about is far less entertaining Rocket River
Wlecome to the Rome is an idiot club. The only thing I have ever liked about him is when he kept calling Jim Everrett Chris. Other than that, he is a right ass moron. I guess that happens when you have "clones" climbing up your butt all day
