I've got a "friend" driving in this weekend and I'm making her a CD for the trip back and it got me wondering. Does the post-modern female still understand the significance behind this gesture? Does the CD mixtape have less value than the audiotape mix? Anyway, here's the tentative playlist as of last night. I welcome any suggestions or comments by the musical savants. Wow, guys still do this? You rock on with your bad self. I think it's cute. I don't know all the songs, but the ones I do know I would imagine she will like.
Needs more Tuvan throat singing. And if she doesn't like a band that named itself after a Get A Life episode, she's not worth it. Rock on, S.P.E.W.E.Y.!
I was all about the mix tape back in the day. I made one girl who broke my heart a "so you broke up with me" mixtape, full of guilt inducing bitter sweet breakup songs. She called me the very next day and was like, "Thanks for the CD... I love it!" I guess I learned the hard way that some people just don't listen to song lyrics or have any idea what songs are about. My wife still has an entire CD collection of music I put together for her right before we got engaged.
Interesting. I'm torn between NIN - Get Down Make Love and Lord Of Acids - I sit on Acid as the hidden track.
I like NIN better... but then I can't stand Taylor Swift, so maybe I'm not the best at gauging what your girl will like.
NIN- Perfect Drug If she likes oldies some Otis Redding could help seal the deal.. These Arms of Mine is always a good choice..
People still do this? The last time a chick gave me a "mix CD" was 10 years ago - and i literally laughed out loud. I don't think I've ever given anyone a mixtape in my life... seems way to cheesy.
