Ummm, yeah, weslinder, and guess what happened y

Bond selloff means record-high debt financing costs for Ireland, Portugal
    [http://www.chicagotribune.com/business/sns-ap-eu-financial-crisis,0,2026220.story
    And then yesterday:

Ireland Risks Downgrade on S&P Credit Risk
    http://www.reuters.com/article/idUKWLA397120100928

Want to have a real debate on the impact of austerity on Ireland's economy and/or it's bond yields? It's not one you're going to win.

Thanks SamFisher. Outstanding thread. There is so much that is quotable here, and what is notable is that Matt doesn't throw the baby out with the bathwater. While he scorches Rand Paul and the Tea Partiers, he also is careful to explain that the movement was hijacked post-Obama and gives respect to Ron Paul's honesty.

Boy oh boy, this is going on TEH FACEBOOKZ.

And it will probably anger some of my TEA Partier cousins/aunts/uncles (fortunately none of my immediate family).

I would've felt some smug satisfaction if Matt didn't write that last paragraph.

Interesting that you would quote Reagan, since he was the beginning of the tax cuts by borrowing strategy the GOP has been following for the past 30 years.

I remember when there were some Ice Storms in Kentucky I believe right after Obama was elected cutting out the power to a lot of residents in Kentucky. Of course, every national disaster that happens to rural whites gets compared to Katrina, and sure enough, Trader_Jorge was leading the charge. "rural people can take care of themselves, urban people suck off the gov't" I had to point out to him that Kentucky on a per capita basis is one the highest reciepients of welfare funds in this great nation of ours.

a resounding internet victory for pgabriel

here are some of the rough, penetrating, probing questions Obama was subjected to by Jann Wenner:

[rquoter]When you came into office, you felt you would be able to work with the other side. When did you realize that the Republicans had abandoned any real effort to work with you and create bipartisan policy?

How do you feel about the fact that day after day, there's this really destructive attack on whatever you propose? Does that bother you? Has it shocked you?

What music have you been listening to lately? What have you discovered, what speaks to you these days?

You had Bob Dylan here. How did that go?

    Did you cry?[/rquoter]

Wow, you pick the fluff at the beginning and the end of an interview in a music magazine, totally ignoring the bulk of the interview. Here are some others...

You'll have to apologize to him. He didn't cherry pick on his own or read the interveiew, he was plagiarizing this from a bunch of right wing blog/forum posts:

Epic. I had this argument with someone regarding Civil Rights the other day and the idea that it wasn't necessary for government to fix it because it was slowly correcting itself.

My final statement was "Would you be OK to tell your grandchild that she just needs to accept the fact that she is a second class citizen in this society and not complain because maybe by the time HER grandchildren are of age it will be different."

It's always easier for white people to talk about the corrective hand of history and the lack of a need for government action when they were able to bounce little Johnny on their lap and tell him he could be whatever he wanted.

By the way, I'm a black woman with kids selling puppies.
