Yeah, the legendary status of that song seems to have taken on a life of it's own. I mean I like the song, but it gets too much love. Still, not following how the inclusion of a non-mainstream indie song equates to Miley Cyrus?
in an intersting twist Spin Magazine has released it's 35 best songs of the decade.....Ironically, they are all sung by Radiohead!! 1 .2+2=5 2. sit down, stand up 3. sail to the moon 4. backdrifts 5. go to sleep 6. where i end and you begin 7. we suck young blood 8. the gloaming 9. there there 10.i will 11. a punch-up at the wedding 12. myxomatosis 13. scatterbrain 14. a wolf at the door 15. There are too many Pop songs on the list. It’s like looking at Randy Jackson’s top 20 countdown. Hence the Miley reference.
Well, it's not Metal Hammer or some other specialized publication. They're pretty much trying to cover every type of music including "pop," so I don't know how they can be faulted for that. Besides I feel like they included the most worthy pop songs. 3 | Beyoncé — "Crazy in Love" 18 | Kelly Clarkson — "Since U Been Gone 20 | Justin Timberlake — "Cry Me a River" 23 | Rihanna — "Umbrella" 45 | Kylie Minogue — "Can't Get You Out of My Head" 50 | Beyoncé — "Single Ladies" 62 | Alicia Keys — "Fallin'" Yeah, they effed up a few times with Jet, Snoop Dogg, and chose the wrong Madonna song (should have been Don't Tell Me), but otherwise not bad.
Burn me at the stake if you guys want but "Crazy" by Gnarls Barkley is the more overrated "good" song this decade IMO.
I found the list to be edgy for Rolling Stone, given that it is more of a mainstream music source these days. Rolling Stone is like the bro who wants to be hipster, but he keeps wearing t-shirts with Aeropostale written across the front.
What don't you guys like about it? Is it the hypnotic rhythms , the perfectly produced thumping bass tones, the smooth and free-flowing neo-soul vocals, the vague yet intriguing lyrical content, or is just some combination of all of the above? j/k...but the song does rule.
here's your problem: I can only find one person on that list who is dead. its like these rock stars today aren't even trying anymore...
Kinda surprised Mariah Carey's "We Belong Together" and Chamillonaires's "Ridin Dirty" didn't make the list. Those were two HUGE pop hits. Otherwise, don't really care. I barely listen to this stuff anymore and there will probably be a million different versions of this same list over the next couple of weeks.
When I saw the thread title I automatically assumed it was referring to the 90s. Eesh. I havent listened to "music" in a while. I was gonna say Gin Blossoms "hey jealousy" or Seal "Batman to make love to"
