I am never so excited as right now to see a cherry picker survey the neighborhood. I don't know if they're gonna work or just look around but please let me have power by tomorrow. That would be sweet!

Im skeptical of the Sunday deadline at this point. We have dozens of downed lines in my area and despite working in the area a good portion of every day since Ike, I have yet to see one power company vehicle anywhere in the area.

Hard to believe CP is releasing crews to go back home with so much work left to do in so many areas.

I'm honestly amazed at people who stay in their homes when there is no power. If you have a family, go to hotel. If you're single, or even a couple, surely you know people who will take you in, right?

Perhaps I'm not getting the "big picture", but my place was locked up all 11 days without power. I checked on it each day, and locked it right back up.

But I always had a place to stay, and had several other options, as well.

I don't get why anyone would hang around their house without power.

It's wasn't like my house wasn't livable. It was just a major annoyance. Plus I hate staying with people. Walking around in my underwear was just too awkward for them.

Suckers? Dumb ass, I've had power since 4pm the Saturday after the storm rolled in. Hospital grids rule.

Day 14 without power. But there is a light at the end of the tunnel, or street...we have 4 lit streetlights on our street and the corner traffic signal is working again. Crews were all through our neighborhood repairing lines yesterday, and told one neighbor that we would get our power back today.

I am fantasizing about sitting on my sofa watching football this weekend.

Centerpoint, please don't ruin my fantasy!!

Who says I wanted to? I felt like I had to. Human presence in the house lowers the threat of burglary. I had plenty of people offering me a place to stay. I turned them down.

Yes, but didn't you say that most of your neighbors were hanging out on their porches in the evening? Are you really that worried about burglary?

Good luck RMTEX and its amazing that there are so many that still don't have power 2 weeks out from the storm.

No, they hang out on their porches during the day. They retreat inside once the sun goes down. And yes I really am that worried.

Thank you. It sucks that the "Energy Capital of the World" has a circa 1950s electrical infrastructure.

I'm praying your power gets turned on today RM. Our power got turned on Wednesday and before that I honestly felt like I was going crazy. Can't imagine how it must be for you.

Thank you for your prayers. I definitely feel like I am going crazy, but I've been feeling that way off and on for 47 years now!

One thing I have learned thanks to Hurricane Ike....beer chilled on ice always seems to taste better than beer chilled in a refrigerator.

    :D

PS: Any of you fellas hear my drunken call into Charlie Palillo's show yesterday afternoon?
