I haven't been by my place since last night, when there was no power, but things are looking up. I just noticed that power has been restored in my area 4 blocks north of me, as well as 3 blocks west. Hopefully, when I'm headed home this evening, the power will be on, but until I know, I'm still a 27%er.
No power in the 77338....scheduled for Thursday but not holding my breath. I should have stayed in Cancun.
I really wanna complain about the lack of power but it's hard when Galveston is in such bad shape. That said, the Centerpoint text thing said I should've had power yesterday. Still waiting on that damn truck to come by and fix the line!
My parents have been puppy sitting for me while I work, 77088ers, I headed over there after work to get the dog and walked into a nice cool house and was stoked for them. Well as I was leaving they all walked outside with me and we were talking when BOOM BOOM BOOM, fireballs shot out from the lines that run above their across the street neighbors' back yards. And with those flashes and explosions they were powerless again, my poor parents. I'm guessing that when my power is finally restored, Thursday estimate, they will still be without as they are now off Centerpoints "without power" list and on a whole new list waiting for an entirely new crew. Oh and my deductible for my home owners for all non-hurricane related repairs is a straight 1% of the insurance companies estimated cost to rebuild my entire house then it jumps to 5% for hurricane related damage. I know that's my fault for not better knowing my policy but needless to say I withdrew my claim and it looks like I will be borrowing against my 401k to replace the roof and back patio. Lesson learned the hard way, I will be calling my insurance agent as soon as his office which also sustained Ike related damaga and finding out just how much my premiums go up to get the Hurricane repair percentage dropped to 1% or even 2%. The crappy part is my premiums probably won't go up more than 15-20 bucks a month and could have saved me 4 or 5 grand for repairs. Oh well, lesson learned, rant over. IKE sucks!
I got mine back Sunday night around 9. It feels good to be home after a week of couch hopping at my ex-girlfriends house.
still no power in my part of 77056, but the crewshave been working on our street since yesterday so it should be soon... until then, my family and i are staying at a friends place in River Oaks - it looks like most of that neighborhood has power already.
Another 27%er from the 025. Word from the man in the power truck yesterday was don't expect no stinkin power on my street until SUNDAY!
Well, the update is supposed to come out a 8pm tonight. I fully expect my area to be bumped back to Saturday. I hate Ike!!!!
I'm so close to just getting a generator, even though I was "supposed" to have power back yesterday. That's right, I can't handle a day or two more of being powerless, I'm that addicted to tv and internet. Hmm...at least I'll be prepared next time if I get one.
GREAT! New restoration map estimates it will be Sunday until 77081 gets power back. I definitely wouldn't be surprised if it's still out a week from now.
just had power for about 10 mins. and then... BAM! large explosion in our backyard. now, nothing. second time thats happened in the past hour.
Wow. New maps say by Sunday my zip will have restoration. Well, good thing my parents just bought a generator. I now have internets and television. That is all that matters.
