www.nbatalk.com Interesting. Houston traded Drew to give him more playing time and to a team that was close to Valparaiso. Houston could do that for Rogers, too. Rogers for Montross. Salaries are comparable, Houston would not lose Rogers to free agency, and get another inside presence. ------------------ Not only have the Drew bashers crossed the line, but they've sprinted a couple of miles beyond it.
I'm not sure how much Rogers makes, but I'm sure we'd rather let him go to clear some room for Taylor and Anderson rather than take on any additional salary. ------------------ When you make an assumption, you make an ass out of yourself and umption. visit www.swirve.com
I think when it is all said and done at the end of the season that Carlos will want to stay in Houston. Rogers is a very valuable commodity coming off the bench, but will he be satisfied with that bench role for long? Only time will tell. ------------------
RM95, Are you suggesting we renounce Rogers salary down to $0, or just let him go in free agency. If not, you can't purge his salary because of the 15% Rule in any trade, unless you find a team with cap room to spend it on him in a trade. Sounds like you are saying drop him for nothing in return. I don't agree. He has value. Barring, injury, I see Rogers spending the entire year proving his value for next summer negotiations. We won't be saying drop him for nothing, then.
houston trades: Carlos Rogers $2,200,000 to detroit houston trades: Matt Bullard $2,100,000 to detroit TOTAL: $4,300,000 detroit trades: Ben Wallace $4,000,000 to houston TOTAL: $4,000,000 TRADE ACCEPTED Due to houston and detroit being over the cap, the 15% trade rule is invoked. houston and detroit had to be within 15% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement. ------------------
HP, I want 'Los on this team for many years to come. I love his attitude and his hustle, and he's one of those guys that could be an inspiration for all involved. My point was, I'd rather lose him for nothting, or trade him for another free agent, than take on any other salary. ------------------ When you make an assumption, you make an ass out of yourself and umption. visit www.swirve.com
I was under the impression that Rogers contract runs out after the 2002 season. Does he have an opt out or something? In any case, if Rogers is a FA at year's end, the Rockets need to renounce him if they plan on keeping Mo Taylor and Shandon Anderson in the fold. ------------------ Check out the Best Source for Draft Info Draftsource.net
Uh, Detroit wouldn't trade Ben Wallace for Rogers and Bullard even if under the influence of hallucinogenics. Wallace was sought out for specific qualities that are lacking from Rogers and, especially, Bullard. They might not even want Rogers when he is a FA. ------------------
It's good having Rogers around, but let him go. It helps getting rid of his 2.5 million, and it opens up playing time for KT, a draft pick, and maybe Collier. Why take on an unwanted player like Wallace just because Los wants to leave? ------------------
Poke me in the eye with a blunt stick before we ever trade for Eric Montross. ------------------ www.NOPostCount.com
Why would you announce something like this at the beginning of a season? Golly. well i hope he resigns anyway. He is Mr. Hustle. He always chases rebounds.
His contract is up in 2002. Eric Montross has his contract come up in 2005. A cheap contract, but holding a roster spot that will be precious as the Rockets start to cash in some of the extra draft picks due over the next several years. Ben Wallace? A nice player, but who loses minutes? The Rockets should only take on long term contracts of players who REALLY make a differnce and Wallace's deal runs until 2006. Pass on both of those ideas. I don't think Rogers will be re-signed by the Rockets - it seems that he's kind of the odd man out in our rotation. Personally I'd MUCH prefer him backing up at PF then KT, but something tells me it's gonna be KT getting more minutes.... ------------------
Wait a minute. I thought Rogers's contract expired after the 2001/2002 season, not after this season. Davo's salary page, Real GM, Tony's salary page and Patricia's salary page all indicate that his contract expires in 2002, and none of them indicate that Rogers has an opt-out clause. Seems like NBAtalk made a little mistake here. ------------------ [This message has been edited by Cold Hard (edited October 25, 2000).]
Uhh, give me a sex-change operation before we trade for Montross. Okay maybe not a sex chnge but, damn, no way do we want Eric Montross on this team. Even Collier has more game than him ------------------ "He fouled me every single time I was over the rim ... if he really does want to go i think we could do some really god things here. first of all, we would make him happy. 2nd we would free up 2.5 mill. 3rd we could spread the playing time. 4th we could get something quite valuable in return. you wonder what we would get?? i say we take their #1 pick for the next 2 years. its not a bad deal, for either team, and the pistons should be pretty sucky this year. the team may ask for financial compensation too, being that they have to give what is it $30 mill to the arena project. I would give up Los for a 7 pick next year, and a 12 pick the year after that. ------------------
for a bench and nice role player you are expecting a first round draft pick that is unprotected from the lottery, someones dreaming again ------------------ www.NOPostCount.com
Smegg without a doubt. On the Rockets Los is a role player, but if he was a piston Los would likely be a starter, or at least earning 25 mins. the talents and hustle of carlos Rogers is obvious, and he has proven that he can play in the NBA. a draft pick would cost nearly as much as Rogers contract, but would NOT guarentee results. Detroit needs help NOW, while houston does not. i say trade him. ------------------
I don't know what you guys are thinkin'! But I consider Carlos Rogers as one of the most valuable commodoty that this franchise has. The man go up to the loose ball, you see him hustlin' on offensive and defensive end.Best of all the man does'nt complain coming of the bench! ------------------ Rudy T. will find and fulfill Rockets destiny.
I don't think that Ben Wallace is worth Bullard and Rogers. Bullard, while not a star, certainly has a role on the team. We *certainly* need someone to hit 3's, especially with Williams as inconsistent as he's been. Bullard is that man. ------------------ Shandon Anderson rocks. The lottery sucks. Playoffs 2001.
