I didn't say there was anything wrong with hustle. I was just commenting on 'what happened to Hewitt.' He seemed for a short time to be unbeatable, but then Agassi just shredded his game - taking what Hewitt's game naturally gives up, and that's been it.

yeah and sometimes he does it at inappropriate times. like for example when his opponent hits the ball into the net. i'd understand it if you made a great killing shot but when the other guy messes up?

I hate to say it, but at similar points in their careers, I think Federer is further along than Pete. There is absolutely no doubt that he could become the greatest to ever play the game. I thought Roddick was catching up for a little while, which would make an awesome rivalry due to the proximity in age, but I think Federer has really separated himself.

yeah the thing with Federer is that he is still so young. And he so talented. I think Sampras was great, and i loved watching him. But Federer is still so young and already he is dominating. We will see what will hapen in the future, Maybe Federer will stop caring in a couple of years. But if he keeps his focus and his intensity he can become the greatest ever IMHO

funny, that's probably the last match i remember watching him play. i thought someday we'd see some roddick/hewitt classics like sampras and agassi but oh well.

what the **** is this tennis thread?

    oh, were talking tennis?

    okay.
Federer is the best now. He could potentially be the best ever from what i hear from the experts.

I would give the nod to Sampras over Aggasi, even though Aggasi might be a overall better talent, Sampras just had more of that tennis it.

I never seen Laver play so I can't really say.

I was listening to Charlie on Monday afternoon, and he said Federer might go down as the greatest tennis player ever, and that he could kick Dr Phil's ass in Tennis.

I was watching Federer play Safin last night, and I was thinking to myself - I am witnessing greatness. Safin played the game of his life to beat him.

Federer has the potential to be one of the best, but lets not get too excited - Sampras won14(?) majors. Hard to imagine that feat being duplicated in the ultra competitive modern game.

davo, nice to see you posting - haven't seen you in a while.

I watched the match as well, and I think Safin was basically fitter in the end. Federer somehow didn't seem very quick on his feet anymore, and his serve kind of left him. But you could see that he has an unbelievable touch. Once he was trapped in the corner facing an aggressive cross-court approach shot on his backhand side and he played an amazing lob over Safin (who is not a dwarf). That was a great shot.

if you see Federer play you can see what he can do with the ball, it is unbelievable. His bal handling is just great.

to bad he had to loose to Safin, especially after i started this thread:(
