i keep hearing the national media say this...i don't expect them to keep tabs on him, but geez, they're so continually wrong. my business partner mentioned this to roger once and he said, "that's fine...they can think i live in dallas for all i care!"
Yeah, i was just going with what i read in the chronicle. I saw it a week or so ago then once again this morning they mentioned him living there.
Uh, technically, doesn't Roger live in Piney Point Village? There's no such place as Memorial (although he does live really close to Memorial HS). It's just a long-ass street. Sure, I used to live in the "Memorial area," myself, but I never deemed it an actual place. It's more like a state of mind.
I can't wait till this happens...I've been folowing the news like a lot of you, and I can't believe it, but now I really think all signs are pointing to it happening...
Man, it is going to be so sweet to get Roger. I really hope we do get him. If he does join the Astros, the Pettitte signing is getting that much better.
Actually Drew...you're wrong. Piney Point Village is very close to my office. I have had to take Memorial Drive to get to various lunch spots and have driven past the house many times. I never knew who owned it until I saw the picture in the paper of Roger with DeMontrond. For the record...it is less than 10 miles from downtown. He could be at the stadium in afternoon rush traffic in 20 minutes.
Further for the record...I know this because my office is 8 miles from downtown and it takes 15 minutes in traffic. I just estimated the distance.
I don't agree. Pretty much my entire family lives in either the Memorial and River Oaks area and whenever I go to a baseball game with my uncle from his house in Memorial, it takes longer than 20 minutes to get there. People make it sound like they are right next to eachother dont realize how spread out Houston truly is. I'm not saying that you are one of them, but I disagree on this time deal...... None of this should matter, though. Lets pray that the Rocket comes to play for the Astros.
I pretty much concur. My wife's office is in T&C, which is probably about 5-10 mins farther out than where Clemens lives. We attended probably 10 Astros games this summer with a few of her coworkers and we would always meet there in T&C and ride together to MMP. In 6PM traffic, we usually got there in 20-30 mins. Once you get on I-10 inside the loop, its clear sailing.
You take Memorial to Sabine and it turns into Rusk. Clear sailing from there. I have often gotten to a 5:30 hearing in 15 minutes.
Looks like the Rangers are out of it. From ESPN.com: ESPN.com news services In the unlikely event that Roger Clemens does come back and pitch, it would only be with the Houston Astros, the New York Post reported on Saturday. Clemens' agent, Randy Hendricks, told the Post on Friday that Clemens would not accept Rangers' owner Tom Hicks' invitation to play for Texas. Hendricks said that Clemens would only consider playing for Houston. Hicks met privately with Clemens at The Ballpark in Arlington on Wednesday, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported earlier in the week. Hicks reportedly told Clemens that if the Rocket had second thoughts about retirement, the Rangers would be interested. "Roger is retired, and I believe he's going to stay retired," Hicks told the newspaper. "But I told him if he reconsiders, we would be extremely interested and have had success in the past with a player who was in a similar situation." After Andy Pettitte left the Yankees for the Astros, it was rumored that his good friend Clemens might resume his career in Houston. The Rangers were hoping that the idea of staying close to home (Katy, Texas) and in the American League would be enough to make Clemens intrigued by the idea of playing at The Ballpark. Yankees manager Joe Torre said earlier in the week that he believes Clemens will stay retired. Clemens, 41, went 17-9 with a 3.91 ERA last season for the Yankees. The six-time Cy Young Award winner has 310 wins, 17th on the career list, and needs 38 strikeouts to move into second place ahead of Steve Carlton, who has 4,136. "I'm doubtful that he'll be back," Torre said. "I think he was ready to do it."
Codell, you and I both know they were never in it. Tom Hicks better turn his focus back to his star shortstop because his team's competiveness pretty much hinges on his(hicks) decision). While in the meantime, houston guns for a NL Central crown and potentially their first playoff series ever.
I heard some good news on Clemens last night. Take it for what its worth, but I met a girl who's parents (or parents friends) were talking to Clemens the night before last and apparently he told them he was pitching for the Stros next season. This is definitely second hand info, and I'm not sure how accurate it is, but she sounded like she knew what she was talking about. I hope its true.
My cousin's friend's uncle met this guy who once ate a burger with the nephew of a guy who dated this girl in highschool that knew the cousin of this girl who murdered Roger Clemens.
Um, he's sick. My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with the girl who saw Ferris pass out at 31 Flavors last night. I guess it's pretty serious.
