Guys, Mike Wilks has been on the IL for quite a while, which is why he shows up to the games in street clothes.

If we picked up Strickland, either he or someone else would need to be relegated to the IL along with Wilks. Obvious choices include Boki, Padgett and Pike.

Pick him up if he wants to play here (he has a choice) and put Padgett on the IL.

Rod Strickland..he's not terrible. I don't want the Rockets to waive Mike Wilks though.

Last time I saw Rod Strickland play..for Orlando..was on a Sunday against the Lakers in Orlando. It was like the last second play..they were down by like 1...and then they had the ball...someone inbounded the ball to Rod Strickland..and he got stripped by Derek Fisher which led to a fast break easy layup for Gary Payton..plus..Rod Strickland didn't go back and play defense..he just stood there...

If we could get him move steve to the 2 and have cat come off the pine i think it could work, but JVG needs to only try the lineup and see if it will work. If the line up wont hold water let him go, well that is cause we would sign him to a 10 day.

Strickland has been a quality player every stop he's made. The problem with him is he seems to rub coaches the wrong way. If you have seen Strickland run the point, he's a classic pg who penetrates and dishes, but makes good decisions with the ball likle Cassell has for yrs.

We should make a rule - actually this probably IS a rule that almost all NBA GMs go by: If you're 37 and you've just been released from your 17th NBA team (slight hyperbole), YOU CAN NOT START AT THE MOST DIFFICULT POSITION IN THE GAME FOR A TEAM IN THE MIDDLE OF A TOUGH, TOUGH PLAYOFF RACE!!!

Add to that, you also can not change the position of your (2nd?) best player unless he has an entire training camp (not weeks before the end of the season) to learn the system from that position.

Does anyone really realize how different playing 1 and 2 are in the NBA?!?!?

I just get tired of all these, "start Mark Jackson and move Steve...." threads. Steve's not going ANYWHERE, meaning he will be our starting point guard for the rest of this season!!

    ENOUGH!

people need to stop posting everytime some old pathetic guy is released. especially by a team that lost 19 in a row at some point. if he cant make a diffference on that team, how could he ever do that on ours?

the guy can still play pretty well. even for an old guy he gets in the lane pretty easily and is still a good point guard. i'd sign him.

Hmmm ... wasn't Tracy McGrady on that team that lost 19 in a row? Do you think T-Mac could make a difference on the Rockets?

yeah but we're not talking about tmac. we are talking about rod strickland. all im saying is that every time some guy gets released, everybody is like hey lets get him, he will make us better. there is a reason those guys get released, and its not becuase they are doing so good that the team wants to reward them by letting them play for a playoff team.

rod strickland would be a good pick up. but the rockets will still lose to teams under 500.

Rod Strickland asked Magic to release him so that he could play for a playoff-bound team.

Different teams have different needs, and someone who's useless for one team could play a useful role for another. Just look at Jim Jackson. He spent a long time on waivers before being picked up by the Kings last year and look at how he played for the Kings last year (and how he's playing for us this year). Mark Jackson has contributed to this team this year as well. These were both guys that nobody wanted, but has turned out useful for us. Personally, I think the Rockets would be better off to replace Mark Jackson with someone who can both pass and defend and maybe even shoot a little bit. Rod Strickland fits that role, though I'd prefer to have Brevin Knight instead.

Rod Strickland had around 9 assists per game when he started for the injured Tyrone Lue.
