haha. Yea, she was great. Had me cracking up. But no, I didn't try out because I can't commit to 45 games with a wife and kid. But wifey approved me buying tickets. So so I'll be there for about half the games right in front of their section. So I'm still there!
my friends and i got in line at 6 am and were the first ones in line! i met basically the whole squad and got autographs
I got there at noon and walked right in at the Bell entrance. No line...just went and sat right behind halfcourt. Took maybe 10 minutes to park and get to my seat. The scrimmage sucked. I found the whole event pretty boring, but my little brothers really liked it. Clutch spent a lot of time out there interacting with the crowd. Best part was when T-Mac had all the rookies dance (they still considered last years group as rookies since they 2nd season hasn't started yet). The DJ put on some latin music to get Scola to dance. Rafer came out with him...then Barry goes to actually dance with him (as his partner), grabs his butt...then runs away.
The scrimmage was ok. There was a lot of dunking going on. Mike Harris and Dorsey had some pretty good dunks. What sucked was you couldn't choose the autograph session that you wante. I really wanted Artest's autograph
The event was unorganized. They had Worrell, Bull, and Battier giving live game commentary and interviewing players from the bench and you couldn't even hear them. The players dancing was cool, but none of them could dance worth a damn. I guess they don't hang out at the clubs to dance, he he he! You could tell that Barry didn't like the way the other players were approaching the scrimmage as time to just have fun for the fans. He is used to playing for a disciplined team so I am sure the team will need his leadership abilities, something that Yao and T-Mac lack. The cheerleaders looked hot!
you guys were frickin amazing.. and I say that with perfectly straight intentions.. and I think the whole event was just great.. I loved sitting courtside (almost courtside actually lol) and seeing the players up close.. red rowdy tryouts were hilarious .. I felt kinda bad for this one white kid because me and a budd *** mine literally couldn't stop laughing at him running in circles and mumbling while hitting his hand with this plastic thing.. does anyone else know what I'm talkin about? it was priceless! no offense, but "the politicians" in the end SUCKED! they excessively prepared stuff that it ended up being stupid... sometimes it's best to keep it simple.. and I can't believe the joker guy didn't make it and the weird "space girl" actually did.. oh and one more thing, why did like 80% of all the people trying out do the "I say Houston you say Rockets" chant? it was so repetitive.. sorry for the incoherent rambling above, I need to go to sleep ..
thnx...we were originally going to rap the whole "thats my team" song that mr luke did...but then realized we only had 30 seconds so we had change of plans.. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/SlW0L7I6quU&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/SlW0L7I6quU&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
I literally sat right next to all the Rowdies...row 1, seat 1 right across...It was fun watching them chant...I just wish some of them would stop spitting while they chant.
It was a pretty fun event. I went there with the gf and arrived at Toyota Center around an hour before the doors opened and the line was wrapped around the block. Once we went inside, Clutch the bear kept the fans entertained for the majority of the time, assisted by a few Power Dancers and the Launch Crew. Matt Bullard, Bill Worrell and Shane Battier provided commentary for the scrimmage but Yao and TMac didn't see any action. TMac made the rookies square off in a dance contest which was won by Luis Scola after the crowd chanted his name, trying to get him to participate. There was a pseudo 3 point contest and that was pretty much it. I took a few pics of the shenanigans.
