Uhhh... I'm still really into RDR. I don't think I'm ready to move on yet.

I think I might have implied this in my earlier post (plus it's in the OP), but...

This isn't really a Rockstar game. It is being developed by Team Bondi, and this is their first (and only) game. Up until a few years ago, it didn't even have anything to do with Rockstar (was a SCEE funded PS3 exclusive, but Sony dropped it and Take Two picked it up). Rockstar probably has helped in the development process I imagine, but definitely not the same team that made GTA, RDR, etc. While the studio is new, a lot of the talent came from SCEE's "Getaway" team. So I'd probably compare it to those games, if anything.

Though it seems pretty different still. Definitely looks really good though. I've always been a bit skeptical (see earlier post), but maybe all that time and effort will pay off. Facial animation is definitely in a league of its own.

Just realized this game and DNF will be released around the same time I think. Two games I never thought would be released 3-5 years ago.

The influence from GTA is unmistakable, though.

I'm not sure I would like this game much. Was not really a fan of the Heavy Rain style interrogation/detective stuff.

The atmosphere is 100% authentic though, I might get this even though I found the detective stuff in the trailer pretty boring.

Rockstar needs to hurry up and make another GTA game already.

Definitely, although that was the case with The Getaway as well I think. I do think Rockstar/Take Two are helping quite a bit though, especially on the PR side of things (LA Noire is definitely getting the "GTA" treatment in terms of marketing).

I was just trying to point out that this is a different studio than the ones that make the GTAs, Bully, RDR, etc. Which can either be good or bad depending on how you look at it.

Average game at best, it did absolutely nothing that had not already been done before in a western game, not to mention the campaign was far too long and boring without interesting characters
Worst dandbox GA game they ever made, by far imo

Like in red dead, they did a great job on details, prettiness, and scale, but the storys were both boring and lacked interesting characters and did not do anything new

Game looks amazing and those facial animations are the best I've seen in a game. It would be great if a game like Mass Effect had those animations.

Holy crap, reminds me of Heavy Rain as that one guy posted. This looks like a definite buy.

There was a year between III and Vice City and two years between VC and San Andreas. But it took 3 1/2 years for IV. 3 1/2 from IV would be the end of this year but I haven't heard anything about development. The last DLC for IV came out at the end of 2009 so maybe we'll get one in late 2012 or mid 2013.

Red Dead Redemption was fantastic. It was highly rated and award winning for a reason.

Honestly, I think it worked the 'sandbox' genre better than GTA ever did. I always felt a disconnect with GTA because there was so much 'dead space' that was filled in a very fake way. All those buildings and structures that served absolutely no purpose really took away from the immersion. I understand it was for technical reasons (one day when we have a sandbox game when you can go into/interact with every building in the city it will be glorious) but the 'problem' worked soooo much better in Red Dead. The western setting was ideal.

The mechanics were solid, too. Very little issues with control. And, of course, the game was filled with tons of stuff, extras, multiplayer, great DLC....one of the best games of this gen, easily.

That said, I have high hopes for Noire - but like RC explained, it's not really a 'rockstar' game.

Wow, I completely forgot about this game.

Looks great. The facial animations (captures), like others have said, are amazing. Best I've seen yet.

I didn't see this thread and posted another thread about it in error.

The game looks great, Red Dead Redemption was awesome, and I look forward to this game a lot. I never played Heavy Rain. Though I like the Noire genre idea a lot for this game. I can't wait.

Anyone playing? I just picked it up this morning. Just earned my first promotion.

I like what they are doing with the Marines flashbacks.
