Wow, they have 1 run on 6 hits! we have 3 on 2 hits....both in this inning! The Tides sure have truned quickly! Wow, Cubbie fans must be pissed right now.
from a no hitter and what looked like strike 3 on biggio to a walk, double, barely safe play at second, wild pitch, 2 run homer, 3-1 lead in about 3 minutes. awesome. bagwell has been on a tear these last few games, getting rbi's all over the place.
I know "techinically" Beltran taking that extra base didn't really factor directly into the scoring (since Bidge was going to 3rd anyways, and Baggy took it out of the park). But... you could tell Kennedy got a little bit more rattled by him hustling it into second... it induced the WP to score the run... and then he just simply lost concentration to Bagwell (because he didn't want to throw another WP to allow Beltran to score). That's intangibles...
well, if he didn't hustle into 2nd then he wouldn't have been at 3rd, so then Kennedy wouldn't have to worry about another run from the WP. I see it as more pressure to the pitcher. He would have been at 2nd when Bags homered.
Alright... u got me (just barely)... but its still not "directly" tied to the scoring. That's pretty indirect if you ask me. (mainly because Bagwell actually hit a pretty good pitch... it wasn't a hanger, just a low-inside fastball that he was looking for).
The depth of this bullpen scares the hell out of me ... Please just get us to the 7th inning with the lead!
True...it is indirect. But I was just saying what you said in your first paragraph in your last post pretty much explained it. He was pressured to make sure he threw it down the middle. Only problem was, Baggy was up to bat.
They have been pretty good since the comeback began. TV announcers: "If the Astros can make it to the post season, this could be considered one of the greatest comebacks of all time."
3rd best comeback in major league baseball. The 2 teams ahead of us, a Yankees club and the 69 Mets both won the world series.
