Looks like Wheeler will come in and mop up. I'd give Redding the 9th in case we need Wheeler tomorrow.
Man oh man! This is a hell of a game to miss. Here is what it says in MLB Gameday: Morgan Ensberg homers (10) on a ground ball to left field. That must have been some homerun there!
Can someone in Astros management please arrange for some power outage, roof malfunction or some kind of glitch to delay the Astros game a few hours tomorrow? Thanks. Failing that, suggest to Scrap Iron that he start Redding, have him walk the first batter (no problem for him), then do 1500 consecutive pickoff throws. Dodgers game should be about over by then. Then relieve him for our real starting pitcher, which we can select according to our need.
Is Redding on your fantasy team or something? (and you're trailing in only apperances??!?) My vote is for Oliver... just because Garner thinks its good luck to have him mop up. (Hopefully) good luck to Roy on his 20th...
I just read that John Thomson (who was hurt today) was slated to start game 2 of the NLDS.... thus, Roy must be on the same schedule as well. I'll take a Backe, Roy, Clemens (all on full rest) rotation to try and take on the ATL. Of course, Chipper's and Thomson's injuries make this even more intriguing, should we win the wild card.
come on, Wheeler. This is ridiculous. 8-3. and still only 1 out. Lidge and Miceli may not get that rest after all.
I just checked the Braves website... and it says that if they play the wild card, their series would start WEDNESDAY! Link
OK, games 1 and 2 on wednesday and thursday (in atlanta), games 3 and 4 on saturday and sunday (in home of WC winner) then game 5 on monday in atlanta.
What a weird way to end it... Castilla definitely fouled off that pitch. Way to pay off the umps this week Drayton... Now this makes sense (regarding the WC situation): MLB already decided that if the Braves play the NL West champs in the Dodgers, that series would start on Tuesday... Anything else, means the series starts on Wednesday (leaving room for a 3-way tie, etc.). That way, they can tell their ticketholders when the game is, so they can made adjustments for those (horrible) afternoon starts.
